Wow! What a busy week. Everyone gets a glimpse of what we do from
social media, but our reality is SO much more!

🩺 🐾 Just this week, we released a raccoon, adult opossum, Mom opossum with 9 babies, and 12 healthy squirrels. We had a surgery for a baby raccoon, regularly medicated about 25 animals, took in 4 bat pups, 2 adult bats, 15 skunks. Do mites and ticks count as intakes? 🤣 If so, let’s add 1500+ to our count! Some of our animals are clinging to life and we are dedicated to them. All in all, we have around 160 animals that are currently under our care.

💟 We are training a few new volunteers and college interns. We taught around 150 people through our education programs. We have lots of programs coming up in the next couple of weeks! We are looking forward to them.

🛒🛍️We continue to work our very hardest for our wildlife, our community, and you!! We have been doing so much cleaning and feeding, that we are completely out of our staples!!! We need to replenish a few things. No amount of these items is ever too many! Will you help us so we can keep helping them? Kroger and Meijer cards are for so many perishable food items that we have to buy multiple times each week. (Chicken, greens, yogurt, veggies, fruit). I feel like we have gremlins at the center some days. Ha! They eat and multiply!

These little orphans were without mom for several days. If ever you see this small of skunk without their mom, they need help ASAP. These little guys have been with us for a couple days and still not out of the woods yet. One passed before they arrived to us, one passed within a couple of hours, one passed overnight. We are working very hard around the clock to save the remaining three. 🦨🦨🦨

These guys came in with a few ticks and thousands of mites!

💊💉🩹🩻🩺This little boo needs some help! Will you help him? He needs multiple vet visits and medicines.

🦝🐾This raccoon baby came in as a little orphan with a narly wound and infection. (And fly eggs!) While treating with antibiotics, we discovered his significant break in that leg. The leg was fractured in two areas leaving his entire leg crooked. We took him to the vet for x-rays, but we could not set his leg until the wound was completely healed. We did chlorhexidine soaks to him twice daily and kept him on the antibiotics. Finally, he was able to get his first splint which was pretty tricky to do. He will have to go in once a week to check how his bones are healing. He has several more vet visits to go and we are really hoping that we are able to fix this so we do not have to amputate. That is an absolute last resort. We continue to address his pain as well.

Will you help us raise $800 through a one time donation or a small monthly donation? (Super easy to set up!) He’s counting on some community compassion. 💜 We’ll keep you posted on our fundraising progress in the comments below.

Happy World Otter Day! 🦦

River otters are playful, smart, and incredibly important to healthy waterways. Their presence is a sign that rivers and wetlands are thriving. Today, let’s celebrate these curious swimmers and remember how important clean water and protected habitats are for wildlife everywhere. 🌎

Video is of a SEA otter, not river otter. Video was from the Monterey area a few weeks ago while kayaking in an estuary.

Paula: from being non responsive and critically injured to helping educate during her first class. We hosted a class at the center last week and she made her debut. She did awesome! Oh yea…. and just raised 10 healthy babies in between. Paula came in in February. She is blind with some neuro issues so that is why she will have lifetime sanctuary with us. 💜💕💜

A good piece of info to know this “Baby Season”.
