🦙☔ Y’all come on!

The Petting Zoo is STILL happening on the Plaza until 12 PM! Miss Mount Vernon, Kember Cunningham, braved the rain this morning and made a new friend named Dak. 🦙👑💜

There’s no lightning, the animals are here, the kids are having fun, and there’s still time to make it downtown!

📍 Downtown Mount Vernon Plaza.
⏰ Until Noon

A huge thank you to the Franklin County Library for continuing this fun Summer Reading Program tradition rain or shine! 📚🫶🏻

P.S. Dak the llama was definitely ready for his photo shoot this morning. 🤣📸🦙

And as a Cowboys fan, I feel obligated to point out that Dak showed up, even in the rain. 💙🏈😂

"Small Town, Big Heart." ❤️ We couldn't agree more.
One of the best things about Mount Vernon TEXAS is the variety of locally owned shops and boutiques that make our community special. Chamber Member BC Floral & Gifts/ Bloomin' Crazy Floral -Gifts -Events is just one of many places where you can find unique gifts, home décor, and treasures waiting to be discovered.
Shopping local really does make a difference. 🛍️❤️

Today we had the honor of gathering at the Franklin County Historical Association for the unveiling of the new “Franklin County Serves” exhibit honoring the men and women of Franklin County who answered the call to serve our country. 🇺🇸

Featuring artifacts, uniforms, memorabilia, and historical displays from the WWII, Korea, and Vietnam eras, the exhibit serves as a powerful reminder that history lives through the stories preserved and shared by generations of our community.

Guests also had the opportunity to view the 32-page 1943 Service Men’s Edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald and hear the reading of a 1945 American Legion document honoring Franklin County veterans.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped honor the legacy of those who served. ❤️

Special thanks to the Franklin County Historical Association and American Legion 243 for preserving and sharing these important pieces of Franklin County history.
