Charge phones, power banks, tablets, and rechargeable lanterns
Fill gas and propane tanks
Ensure your prescriptions are filled
Make an emergency backup plan that includes places to evacuate
Disconnect garden hoses from outdoor faucets and cover spigots with insulation.
Ensure you know where your water shut-off valve is and how to turn it off if pipes burst.
Fill the bathtub with water for flushing and washing, if your water pipes freeze.
FOOD AND KITCHEN PREP
Have no-cook food like peanut butter, tuna, bread, crackers, MRE’s, canned meat, fruit and powdered of shelf-stable milk
Have a manual opener available.
HEAT AND HOME SAFETY
Locate extra blankets, sleeping bags, and warm clothes for layering.
Never run generators or operate grills indoors or in enclosed spaces.
Ensure that the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are charged.
Have flashlights and battery-operated lamps on hand, along with spare batteries.
Avoid using candles when possible to reduce fire threat. If you use candles, never leave them unattended.

Turn off large appliances like HVACs, dishwashers, and clothes washers/dryers.
Unplug electronics like computers and large-screen TVs.
Keep the refrigerator closed to preserve cold air.

MEDICAL AND SPECIAL NEEDS
Have adequate backup batteries or power generation for medical devices.
Have an emergency plan for an alternate shelter with power for relocation if needed.
Have adequate medications on hand and a list of them with dosages.
Store a small first-aid kit with a thermometer and basic meds.
