🚨 NEWS: Ohio’s Field to Food Bank Program Expands in 2026 🙌
🦌 Our agency is asking white-tailed deer hunters to consider harvesting an extra deer to help feed Ohio families again this year. The Division of Wildlife’s Field to Food Bank program is accepting deer donations on multiple dates during the upcoming hunting season.

We started the program last year as a dual-benefit strategy to manage Ohio’s white-tailed deer populations and address food insecurity in our state. In the program’s first year, 182 deer were donated, amounting to 36,400 venison servings. Field to Food Bank leverages hunters’ harvests as a conservation tool and community resource.

So cool!

Guess who’s been badgering our trail cams in Ohio? 🦡📸

🌟 We’ve had two recent sightings of American badgers on trail cameras in Ashland and Sandusky counties! These nocturnal creatures are known for their solitary habits and sightings of them are very rare in Ohio.

Have you seen bobcats around Knox County? Post your pics! We would love to see them!

Ohio Bobcat Management Plan 🗒️
🔗 https://ow.ly/PyHk50XKSF5
🙌 Bobcats have returned to many places in Ohio where they were previously nonexistent, and more Ohioans are viewing them. Recorded data shows that bobcat populations are thriving and expanding in Ohio, with more than 500 confirmed sightings by the Ohio Division of Wildlife annually since 2019. Habitat suitability is highest in southeast and southern counties, and they are found across Ohio.

📚 Researchers at Ohio University recently concluded a multi-year project to learn more about bobcats in Ohio. Their research indicates that limited harvest regulations could be implemented in Ohio without negatively affecting the long-term viability of the bobcat population. If a season is implemented, it is recommended that conservative harvest limits are used, biological information is collected from the bobcats, and additional monitoring continues.

Thanks hochstetler for sharing. This footage was captured last week.
There is still evidence the bear is hanging around Knox County (fresh tracks observed today 12/17).
Wonder how it will react to the warm spell. Will it move on or find a good winter hole??

🚨Black bear in Knox County, OH!
Seen in the area this week and confirmed by ODNR. Eastern side of the county (Bladensburg, Walhonding, Zuck). Likely spooked up by the recent deer gun season.
Has anyone seen it??!
