Bright futures ahead! ⭐ This week, our 2026 graduates celebrated their achievements at the Lavan Family Education Awards. 📚 Six BGCMV members: Damani, Ava, Kayden, Michael, Christeina, and Kelsha were honored by CEO Mel Campos, Teen Coordinator Sara Patterson, Development Director Kerry Minto, board members Laura Lavan and Dan Aronson, and their families. They shared their favorite memories from the Club and their plans for after graduation. While we'll miss them dearly, we're excited to see where their next chapters take them! Congrats grads!! 🎓🎓🎓

It’s all about the this week! We had so much fun watching NY’s team this week- even some of our staff got in on the celebration! Lots of our kids wore their Junior Knicks shirts that they got during our event last fall; it was awesome to learn and meet some of tomorrow’s stars! We’ll be cheering them on tonight for Game 2!! 🏀⛹️⭐️

In April, Executive Staff members Mel Campos, CEO, Kerry Minto, Director of Development, and Halima Penny, Director of Outcome Measurements, attended the National BGCA Conference in North Carolina in honor of BGCA’s 120th year.

They participated in trainings, workshops, networking opportunities, the 120th anniversary gala celebration, and the Hall of Fame ceremony.

Last week, our summer staff also continued preparing for summer camp by completing CPR and First Aid training as we get ready to welcome our youth for a safe, engaging, and exciting summer.

At the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon, we are committed to staff development, safety, and continuous learning because our youth deserve the very best.

Some May highlights from the Club! We had a wonderful Mother’s Day Celebration 🥰, spent some time gardening 🌸, and went on some trips. Our teens helped clean Hutchinson River Park, and went on an NYC-Arts excursion! 🎭🎨 As the weather warms up, we’re packing as much as we can into the last few weeks of the school year!! ☀️

A huge thank you to all our Earth Day supporters!

Last week, the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon hosted our inaugural Earth Day Celebration, and what an incredible success it was, made possible by our dedicated staff, Board, community partners, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters.

The City of Mount Vernon truly showed up and showed out for our children and families, and we are deeply grateful.

Special thanks to the Mount Vernon Fire Department NY, Mount Vernon Board of Water Supply, Mount Vernon Department of Public Works, Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon, New York, Mount Vernon Lions Club, Westchester Community Health Center, ArtsWestchester Fish N' Ting Restaurant, Lounge & Bar, Golden Krust, Cupcake Cutie Boutique. , The Home Depot, Fidelis Care, Center for Home Ownership, Community Enterprises, our elected officials, community partners, and every generous donor who helped make this day possible.

A special thank you to Fidelis Care and Bake Back America for their partnership and support.

Our youth had an amazing time enjoying rock painting, planter decorating, and our Earth Day Poster Contest, proudly sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon.

This was more than an event. It was a celebration of community, service, environmental stewardship, and the power of coming together for our young people.

Thank you for helping us create brighter futures, one act of kindness at a time.
