Kimoya Henry Ellis will receive the Educator of the Year. Kimoya, affectionately known as "Ms. K", began volunteering with Y-COP as a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) while she was in high school. Ms. K graduated with her Bachelors in English Secondary Education, magna cm laude, in 2023, and her Masters in Early Education in 2025. She currently serves as Y-COP's Teen Program Coordinator, overseeing the Girls Empowerment Group, the Leaders In Training program (LIT) (formerly the CIT program) and the Right TRACK Teen Program.

Looking for a safe, supportive, and engaging place for your child after school? Join the Y-COP family for the 2026–2027 school year!

Our program serves children ages 5–13 and provides a balance of learning, creativity, recreation, and fun.

📚 Homework & academic support
🚌 Transportation from MVCSD schools
🍎 Snack & hot dinner provided
⚽ Recreation, enrichment & social development
📅 Monday–Friday | 3:00–6:30 PM

Y-COP’s 11th Annual Benefit & Recognition Gala will take place on Thursday, September 17th at the Elegant Glen Harbour Club in New Rochelle. Ms. Lisa LaRocca will serve as the special guest host for the 2nd straight year. Ms. LaRocca is an award winning journalist with more than two decades as a reporter covering the Hudson Valley Region.

This year’s honorees are Priscilla Quirino, Youth of the Year; Rose Cappa Rutonno, Volunteer of the Year; Kimoya Henry-Ellis, Educator of the Year; NewYork Presbyterian-Westchester, Business Support Award; the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, Community Partner Award, Zinobi Duncombe, Above & Beyond Award and the Honorable J. Gary Pretlow, Assemblyman,-Allen D. Ayers Legacy Award.

That’s a wrap on Entrepreneur Week! 🎉

Our campers ended the week by putting their business skills into action—some created their own products, while others purchased items to resell. From lemonade and brownies to bracelets and so much more, they got a hands-on experience in entrepreneurship! 🍋🧁📿

They learned about pricing, sales, customer service, money management, creativity, and what it takes to run a business. We’re so proud of our young entrepreneurs!

Thank you to everyone who came out, shopped, and supported our campers. You helped make this experience extra special! 💛👏🏽
