Scales, Tails and Feathers Animal Rescue is a home based rescue for abused, abandoned, neglected, outgrown pets and pets that for whatever reason can't stay with their current families. We have taken in all types of animals from the domestic dog to snakes. What we do is take in these animals who are no longer able to stay with their families then find them a suitable home after a proper vet and behavior evaluation. The behavior evaluation helps to determine what type of home that would be best suited for them. We do not pay re-homing fees as all of our money goes into the care of the animals that come in, nor do we ask for a surrender fee.

We are experienced with bottle feeding and hand feeding all kinds of motherless babies. We can not take in reptiles of concern at this time, sorry. We are also limited on space as, like I said, we are a home based rescue. Once the spots fill we, unfortunately, have to close our door to surrenders until we find the current ones homes.

We do have both an application and a contract that is required for any potential adopter to fill out before an animal is even considered being adopted to them. The contract includes that if for any reason the animal does not work out with its new family we are to get the adopted pet back. We also require home visits to the potential adopter's home as well as a background check. The background check includes, but is not limited to, checking references (vet included), verifying with the landlord it is okay for the animal to be on the premises (if it is a rented home) and doing a criminal background to verify there has been no animal abuse/neglect charges filed on any person(s) living in the home. These are all to make sure that the animals are going to a good and safe home. We also do random follow ups on our placed rescued babies for the following six months after they are placed to make sure they are taken care of and not resold, ect.

All animals that are surrendered to us are held for two weeks to ensure the former owner is 100% positive they can not keep their animal.
