General Thomas Posey DAR Chapter, Mt. Vernon Indiana

The General Thomas Posey NSDAR attended the dedication of a Liberty Tree in Veterans Memorial Park, on the Mr Vernon, IN riverfront, on Saturday October 25. The General Thomas Posey Chapter SAR purchased and planted the Liberty Oak Tree as part of their America 250 celebration. DAR chapter regent Terri Branson assisted with opening ceremony by leading the American Creed. SAR member, Bob Hall, gave history behind the Liberty Tree and SAR vice- President, Kyle Rudibaugh, unveiled the marker. Chapter members attending were Barb Smith, Terri Branson, and Linda Downen.

General Thomas Posey used our day of service to write thank you letters to our Posey County first responders as we shared the stories of our personal patriots. It was interesting to learn some of our patriots were in the same battles even though they came from different states.
Letters were delivered to the Police and Fire Departments and the Sheriff’s Office.

Our next General Thomas Posey DAR Chapter Meeting is Saturday, October 11th from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. This is the DAR National Day of Service.

We will write thank you notes to first responders and take them to the fire and police stations.

Bring your information about your Revolutionary War patriots; we will share with each other.
