Are you looking for a last minute Mother's Day gift or just some great flower baskets for your house? The PTO is selling gift certificates to Van Wingerden's nursey (with their new location at 18923 Peter Johnson Road in Mount Vernon). The PTO has two options available, a 14" bowl for $30 or a 12" hanging basket for $40. The cool thing this year is that you take your certificate to the greenhouse and pick out the one that you want. DM me if you would like to purchase any certificates and I can meet you right after pick up. All proceeds go to funding PTO events and supplies for the teachers next year.

Have you checked out our Spring Elective 2026 choices yet? Full line up of exciting classes for our students this semester. Here is just a handful of options that our students get to pick from. We have 32 class options for our K-8th grades to supplement with and choose from. Which class are you most excited about?

🎨ART PNW: Learn why our home in the Pacific Northwest is so unique. From those tall Cedars to the abundant mushrooms at our feet, the PNW is bursting with artistic inspiration. Explore regional art and northwest themes while experimenting with mixed media, pastels, collage, found objects, and more.

🧶Crocheting Creatures & Critters: In this hands-on fiber-arts course, students in grades 3–6 will learn how to crochet adorable miniature creatures using simple, beginner-friendly techniques. Students will start by learning basic stitches and gradually progress to creating fully formed, tiny stuffed creatures. The course builds fine motor skills, concentration, and attention to detail, all while encouraging creativity and perseverance.

🌻Flower Power Hour: Learn about the amazing properties of flowers and how they are essential to the natural world. Students will learn the anatomy of flowers; draw real flowers; dream up magical flowers; and look at the history of flowers in art and design.

🔬 Full STEAM Ahead: Is an engaging, hands-on class where students explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math through creative projects, experiments, and simple challenges. Each week, we build, test, observe, measure, and design to discover how things work. With easy activities, teamwork, and exciting read-alouds, students get to imagine, create, problem-solve, and enjoy learning in a playful way!

🇫🇷 Les Aventuriers: Embark on an exciting exploration of the French-speaking world! In French Adventurers, students will deepen their understanding of the French language and culture through interactive activities, including games, collaborative projects, music, and storytelling. This engaging class builds a strong foundation in essential vocabulary and introductory grammar. Learners will explore a wide range of beginner-friendly topics, including greetings and conversations, calendar terms, weather, colors, clothing, family, animals, and everyday expressions, while also discovering key aspects of francophone cultures worldwide.

🎭 Midsummer Mayhem in the Enchanted Forest: “Lord, what fools these mortals be!” Experience the magical world of one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, first performed at the Globe Theatre in 1605. Students will assume the roles of mischievous fairies, melodramatic lovers, and bumbling actors in Skagit Academy’s production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students will learn about Shakespeare’s life and plays, the Globe Theatre, and the process of preparing a play to perform for an audience. We will focus on developing acting skills and working together as a cast to create our own adaptation of this merry mix-up of enchantment and fun, which will take place at the end of the year at Skagit Academy.

🎶 Ukulele 2: Level Up!: Already know your chords and ready for more? Intermediate Ukulele is the perfect place to continue to level up your playing, learn new techniques, tackle trickier songs, and jam with friends in a fun, supportive setting. With group strumming and catchy tunes, this class is all about having fun while becoming a stronger, more confident player. At the end of the semester, everyone will come together for a special performance to show off their progress and celebrate their hard work! Come strum, sing, and shine with us!

It was so fun to walk through and admire all our students art work through out this first half of the year. Then to be able to attend the music concert right after. So thankful for all our teachers here at Skagit Academy.

Dear Skagit Academy Families,

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) is coming to Skagit

Academy next spring! MCT brings professional actors and directors right to our school to work with our students in grades K–6, leading them through auditions, rehearsals, and—by the end of the week—a full-scale performance! It’s an incredible opportunity for our kids to explore their creativity, build confidence, and experience the joy of teamwork and live theater.

To bring this special program to our school, we need to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of the week-long residency and production. To help make that happen, we’ll be launching our Winter Fundraiser on November 3rd!

This fundraiser will include fun activities for families—like our Winter Wreath and Poinsettia sale, Dinner Nights Out at local restaurants and World’s Best Chocolate sales —and every dollar raised will go directly toward funding the Missoula Children’s Theatre visit.

We’d love your help to make this possible! You can get involved by volunteering, donating items, helping your child participate in the fundraiser, or simply sharing our event with friends and family. Together, we can make this an unforgettable experience for our students.

Thank you for always supporting our school and helping create these meaningful opportunities for our kids. We can’t wait to see our students shine on stage!

Save the Date :
Missoula Children’s Theatre Week: April 13th – 17th, 2026
Student Auditions: April 13th, time TBA
Final Performances: April 17th, time TBA in the

Little Mountain Auditorium
Mark your calendars now—this is a week you and your children won’t want to miss!

Skagit Academy Senior Spotlight -
Grace Nelson

I have been attending Skagit Academy full time since the 9th grade. My biggest passion and hobby is art, which happens to be what I am going to college for next year! I’ll be moving to Tacoma to attend NCAD for a degree in Visual Communication. I’ve been working hard towards making my dream to work as an artist come true. Currently I’m busy at NCTA and SVC with my Video Game Design class and Running Start classes. I can’t wait to see where next year takes me!
