We have 32 class options for our K-8th grades to supplement with and choose from. Which class are you most excited about?
🎨ART PNW: Learn why our home in the Pacific Northwest is so unique. From those tall Cedars to the abundant mushrooms at our feet, the PNW is bursting with artistic inspiration. Explore regional art and northwest themes while experimenting with mixed media, pastels, collage, found objects, and more.
🧶Crocheting Creatures & Critters: In this hands-on fiber-arts course, students in grades 3–6 will learn how to crochet adorable miniature creatures using simple, beginner-friendly techniques. Students will start by learning basic stitches and gradually progress to creating fully formed, tiny stuffed creatures. The course builds fine motor skills, concentration, and attention to detail, all while encouraging creativity and perseverance.
🌻Flower Power Hour: Learn about the amazing properties of flowers and how they are essential to the natural world. Students will learn the anatomy of flowers; draw real flowers; dream up magical flowers; and look at the history of flowers in art and design.
🔬 Full STEAM Ahead: Is an engaging, hands-on class where students explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math through creative projects, experiments, and simple challenges. Each week, we build, test, observe, measure, and design to discover how things work. With easy activities, teamwork, and exciting read-alouds, students get to imagine, create, problem-solve, and enjoy learning in a playful way!
🇫🇷 Les Aventuriers: Embark on an exciting exploration of the French-speaking world! In French Adventurers, students will deepen their understanding of the French language and culture through interactive activities, including games, collaborative projects, music, and storytelling. This engaging class builds a strong foundation in essential vocabulary and introductory grammar. Learners will explore a wide range of beginner-friendly topics, including greetings and conversations, calendar terms, weather, colors, clothing, family, animals, and everyday expressions, while also discovering key aspects of francophone cultures worldwide.
🎭 Midsummer Mayhem in the Enchanted Forest: “Lord, what fools these mortals be!” Experience the magical world of one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, first performed at the Globe Theatre in 1605. Students will assume the roles of mischievous fairies, melodramatic lovers, and bumbling actors in Skagit Academy’s production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students will learn about Shakespeare’s life and plays, the Globe Theatre, and the process of preparing a play to perform for an audience. We will focus on developing acting skills and working together as a cast to create our own adaptation of this merry mix-up of enchantment and fun, which will take place at the end of the year at Skagit Academy.
🎶 Ukulele 2: Level Up!: Already know your chords and ready for more? Intermediate Ukulele is the perfect place to continue to level up your playing, learn new techniques, tackle trickier songs, and jam with friends in a fun, supportive setting. With group strumming and catchy tunes, this class is all about having fun while becoming a stronger, more confident player. At the end of the semester, everyone will come together for a special performance to show off their progress and celebrate their hard work! Come strum, sing, and shine with us!
