The Sterling House Inclement Weather Center is here to help those without air conditioning and the unhoused.

Visit us between 12pm and 8pm today, July 5th for a comfortable space to relax, enjoy some games, read a book, and recharge with water, other drinks, snacks, or nap on one of our cots. You can also enjoy a refreshing shower and we provide the toiletries.

We are located at:

Mt. Sterling, Kentucky

Since the beginning of this heat wave on Monday, June 29th we have been utilizing the Sterling House Cooling Center every day to assist individuals in need. During this time, two men have sought refuge with us, and we are deeply grateful for the support that enables us to provide these vital services.

Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to help prevent heat-related incidents among these individuals. One gentleman, who worked outdoors for several hours this morning, arrived at our facility feeling dizzy. After receiving fluid and electrolyte replacement, he was able to shower and rest.

We appreciate the efforts of everyone who has shared information, volunteered their time, and donated to our cause, as your support has made this possible. Your dedication truly makes a significant difference.

We welcome guests from ANY community, not just Montgomery County. We have been made aware of someone in Kentucky passing away yesterday due to the extreme heat. Please help us save lives!

Our hours of operation today have been extended to 8pm. We normally operate from 12pm to 4pm when the heat index is 95 degrees or above, but due to the high heat index forecasted for later this evening, we will be open for this extended period.
