Introducing Art Lights: Exploring Alternative Photography Techniques

What if you could make a camera from recycled materials? Transfer photographs onto unexpected surfaces? Create beautiful blueprints using nothing but sunlight?

The Brown County Arts Alliance invites you to explore the creative side of photography through Art Lights, a free, three-part workshop series focused on alternative photographic processes. Each session offers a hands-on introduction to a unique technique, blending art, science, and experimentation.

All workshops are free and open to teens and adults ages 14 and older. No experience required.

📍 The Vault Community Center
Versailles, Illinois
⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM

Art Lights is a chance to experiment, learn something new, and see photography in a whole different light.

Sponsored by the Brown County Arts Alliance through a grant from the Two Rivers Arts Council and the Illinois Arts Council.

Only TWO HOURS left in our first-ever WCIL Gives campaign! ⏰

We are small but mighty, and so thankful, with big dreams for art in Brown County — and this week proved just how much this community shows up.

👇 Last chance to donate:

But remember it doesn’t stop here. We continue to show up and be present in our community — and we’re always taking donations, no matter the size. 🌱

Can’t afford to donate, please consider volunteering your time to help at an event or teach an activity.

Let’s plant those seeds of generosity together.

🎨 TAG, YOU’RE IT! 🎨

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported the Brown County Arts Alliance during WCIL Gives! Every donation helps us bring more art programs, workshops, community events, and creative opportunities to Brown County.

Here’s how to play:
âś… Donate $10 (or more!)
âś… Tag a friend
âś… Challenge them to do the same

Our goal is $1,000, and we’ve already raised $225! Help us keep the momentum going and make an even bigger impact through the arts.

Young scrappy and creative!

Volunteer-led nonprofit. No paid staff. No big donors in the back pocket. Just a small group of people (literally like 4) that believes art matters and shows up accordingly. 🙌

If that resonates with you, this is your moment.

We’ve been proud to support other organizations too.

Over the years, the Brown County Arts Alliance has shown up across Brown County, providing art activities at Action Brown County’s Winter Festival, Fall Festival, and Summer Bash; pop-up art and music at the Mt. Sterling Farmers Market, Brown County Fair, and Brown County Public Library; and co-hosted fundraising events for Brown County Animal Rescue, Versailles Fall Festival, Versailles Fire Department, and Colchester Fire Department.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

When our neighbors need support, we show up. That’s the kind of community we’re building — one where we take care of each other.

If you believe in that too, consider making a gift during WCIL Gives.

So, what does funding the arts actually look like?

🎨 $25 buys art supplies for a kids’ activity.
🖌️ $100 sponsors a free public arts event for families.
🎶$500 brings a local musician or artist into your community.

Every dollar does something real. We’re not a big organization with a big budget — we’re neighbors investing in neighbors.

Today is Day 2 of our WCIL Gives campaign, and every single donation matters.
