We are all set for the inaugural NYSFC Memorial Cup. Here are the details:

Date and Time:


11AM on Saturday, June 6th and concludes at 12:00PM on Sunday, June 7th – rain or shine.

Location:


Jones Beach West End 2 Parking Lot

Boundaries:


Boundaries for the contest are the eastern end of West End Field 1 to the Jones Beach Construction Dock.

How Will the Winner Be Determined?


The five heaviest fish of each species are eligible to accumulate points. Points earned for the five heaviest striped bass and five heaviest bluefish will be combined to determine your clubs’ total score in points (one point for every pound). Only striped bass ten pounds or heavier and bluefish five pounds or heavier are eligible to be entered for points. All fish must be witnessed to be entered in the Contest.

Please note:

LIBBA will be holding their Larry Carlucci Memorial Contest at the same time and location and will be open to LIBBA and NYCRF members unaffiliated with the NY Surf Fishing Contest. This year’s Memorial Cup will also honor Larry Carlucci.
We will be holding a beach clean-up from 9:00-11:00AM at Jones Beach Field 2.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 7th at 2:00PM. Food will be served.

I have attached the 2026 Memorial Cup Rules and Regulations for your review. Any questions should be forwarded to my attention.

This contest came at the suggestion of a number of clubs at the NYSFC Annual Meeting. We are hoping for a strong turnout and ask that you encourage your fellow club members to participate in the contest.

While there's no signs of Blue Fish any where, we can only hope things get better.

The Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth happens all over the Long Island Sound. The heaviest catch wins $25,000.

Hello LIBBA Members;

From NY State Parks : "Due to plover eggs hatching we have closed the Hither Hills 4WD access road at Montauk Highway and have also placed snow fence from the dunes to the high tide line so that no vehicles can enter from adjacent Town of East Hampton property. We will send notification when it reopens."

It's a little early, but that might be a good thing if all goes well and they only have one brood.

We'll update everyone once we get news about other beaches.
