Save the Rain

Save the Rain "Nothing could be worse than the fear that one had given up too soon and left one unexpended effort t We consider Save the Rain one big family oriented entity.

OUR MISSION
Every 15 seconds a child dies from lack of clean water. Save the Rain teaches water starved communities in East Africa to harvest the rain in order to stop these needless deaths. Our rainwater harvesting systems are built from local materials, by a community elected local work force. They require no electricity, pumping or filtration, thus assuring sustainability. We teach people to ha

rvest the rain through roof water collection, surface water collection and ground water recharge. As well as reforestation, passive irrigation and sustainable agriculture. Thanks to our corporate sponsors, CCG and UCA, 100% of publicly donated money directly funds projects.

$15 provides a child access to clean water for the rest of their life and their future offspring. Who we are:
Save the Rain is an independent 501 (c) (3) non profit and not affiliated with any other organization. We are simply a group of committed people who decided that the present water conditions in the world are unacceptable – so we came together to change it. The working crew are our hands and feet, the board is our guiding eyes, the receiving folks are our heart and soul and our amazing squad of donors are our wings – giving flight to the mission.

Almost every BSF story has been about an amazingly powerful woman who overcame enormous odds and whose climb to a better life was assisted by our Women’s Water Initiative. All of them have inspired us and helped us gain new perspectives.

Now that you’ve come to know some of the 5000 women who have benefited from the Women’s Water initiative, perhaps it’s time to put the cart back in front of the horse and learn about the program itself...

Her name is hard to pronounce. But her laughter is even harder to forget. We first met Wariankira at a village meeting. She had a really dignified manner but when you looked closely, she also had a quiet sadness....

She doesn’t even flinch as the room fills with men in leadership positions, years her senior. Some wearing traditional Maasai warrior attire, some in suits. They take their seat in front of us. They are not accustomed to learning from a young Tanzanian woman. Their melodic languages echo in the failing classroom where we gather. Violeth is ready and here to teach them about food security and access to clean water for their villages.

Nothing steals Aminaeli’s laughter. Most Tanzanians are taught to cover their mouths when they laugh. Some have severe Fluorosis – a dental discoloration that occurs from drinking water with high levels of natural fluoride. It leaves brown striations on the teeth.
Aminaeli made laughter a life raft. It eases pain. It rides her through trying times. It allows her to empty out and fill back up with joy. It gives her courage...
