Betcha didn’t know!!!

The Lake Siskiyou trout pens are a trophy trout program managed by yours truly!! Alongside California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), all in an effort to enhance fishing!

The Mt. Shasta Rotary Club constructed and maintains a dock structure with three net pens, located near the Lake Siskiyou marina. Each fall, the CDFW stocks the pens with young trout. These fish are fed over the winter, growing significantly before being released into the lake in the spring. The pens hold "triploid" rainbow trout, which do not breed, allowing them to focus energy on growth, often growing up to one inch per month.

Located in a cove near the marina, these net pens rear rainbow trout over the winter, allowing them to grow larger before release. This program results in faster-growing, harder-fighting, trophy-sized trout for anglers.
