Established in 2004, Music by the Mountain presents world-class live classical music performances and school outreach in Siskiyou County. Music by the Mountain is a non-profit organization committed to bringing extraordinary classical musicians to our rural, yet vibrant community and providing educational outreach
for children and students of all ages. In recognition,

Music by the Mountain has been awarded multiple grants by the California Arts Council (Artists in Schools), the Siskiyou Arts Council, and the Shasta Regional Foundation. Music by the Mountain has a vital board of local community leaders and is committed to sponsoring and cultivating world-class live classical music performances and education in Siskiyou County.

Our 2025 Gala fundraising event was an unmitigated success! Upon arrival at beautiful Singing Rock Ranch, our guests were serenaded by local legend Scott Durbin while enjoying lovely appetizers from Bee Kind Catering, wines from Yorkville Cellars, and perusing the many and various silent auction items. We were then treated to a fabulous performance by our 2024-25 Carol Medrano Memorial Scholarship winner Linnea Dolf. Linnea is currently attending the Berklee College of Music in Bostonโ€”we are so proud of her! For the second half of the musical evening, guests moved indoors to enjoy performances by Music by the Mountain co-founders Sally Porter Munro and Laura Dahl. Laura played the beautiful Bรถsendorfer grand piano, which formerly belonged to Nancy Driscoll. Music by the Mountain is very grateful to the Tom and Nancy Driscoll Foundation for graciously and generously hosting our 2025 Gala Fundraiser!

The Sasha & Mari Piano Duo is a California-based partnership in music and life, formed at the Tanglewood Music Festival in 2014 with a performance of Schumannโ€™s Bilder aus Osten, Op. 66. They have since cultivated a dynamic collaboration that balances individuality and unity, presenting concerts throughout the Bay Area. Their programs balance masterworks for piano four-hands with original works and contemporary repertoire, offering audiences an experience that is at once rooted in tradition and vibrantly alive. Beyond the stage, the duo is equally dedicated to education. Both are active teachers and mentors, guiding students of all ages in developing not only pianistic skills but also creativity, collaboration, and artistic confidence. Together, they inspire young musicians to find their own authentic voices while modeling the joy and discipline of a lifelong creative partnership.
