🌱🌼 What a beautiful way to wrap up our Spring Garden Club! 🌼🌱

Last Friday, our members celebrated the final session of the season by getting their hands dirty and helping our garden grow! Thanks to a generous donation from Spring Hill Nursery, our youth planted cucumber, pepper, and tomato starters alongside vibrant marigolds and zinnias to attract pollinators and support a thriving garden ecosystem.

Along the way, they learned about companion planting and how certain plants help each other grow stronger, healthier, and more productive. 🌻🍅🥒

A huge thank you to Spring Hill for helping us inspire the next generation of gardeners and environmental stewards!

☀️ Summer Program starts June 22, and there’s still time to register! We’ll be continuing Garden Club all summer long with even more opportunities for members to plant, harvest, explore nature, and watch their hard work bloom.

We can’t wait to see our garden—and our kids—continue to grow! 💚🌿

Yesterday’s Black Bear group wrapped up our spring mountain biking session! 🚵

These riders spent the season building skills, gaining confidence, and hitting the trails with big smiles and plenty of grit. We’re so proud of how much they grew on two wheels!

Don’t worry, more riding is coming this summer! Scroll to the end for the flyer.

Root beer floats, cupcakes, cookies and a poetry reading made for the perfect end-of-year celebration at MSE! 📚✨

Our 2nd and 3rd grade students celebrated becoming published authors by sharing poems from their class book, The Whispers & Rhymes of Our Lives. We are so proud of their creativity, courage, and hard work!

A huge thank you to for helping make this sweet celebration possible for the whole Club. 💙

🎲 A Great Campaign Comes to a Close! 🐉

As this school year wraps up, we wanted to share a few photos from one of our final Dungeons & Dragons sessions of the season.

This week, our adventurers spent the session navigating challenges, making tough decisions, and continuing the story they’ve built together over the course of the session. Watching their creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and imagination come to life around the table has been incredible.

A special thank you to Maxim for volunteering his time, energy, and passion to lead this group. Programs like this do not happen without dedicated community members willing to invest in our youth, and we are so grateful for everything he has brought to the Club this year.

We’re also excited to share that Maxim will be joining the BGCGS team this summer as a staff member working with our 4th-8th grade members. We know our members will be just as excited as we are to continue the adventures.

Thank you to all of our D&D members for your commitment, creativity, and willingness to jump into every quest. The dragons may be defeated, but the memories, friendships, and stories created around this table will last long after the campaign ends.

⚔️🎲 Here’s to the next adventure!

💙 Still Smiling From Saturday Night 💙
We honestly still can’t believe how wonderful our A Place to Belong Fundraiser Dinner was.
The energy, the community, the turnout, the generosity, the laughter, the memories made, and the support shown for local youth were truly incredible.

We were having so much fun and were so present in the moment that we forgot to take photos! 📸

Together, we raised approximately $30,000 to support Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta programs and opportunities for local youth.
We also had over $13,000 worth of amazing raffle and auction prizes donated by local businesses, organizations, and community members.

We truly cannot overstate how grateful and blown away we are by the support this community continues to show.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered, purchased raffle tickets, bid in the auctions, and helped make this night so special.

Special thanks to our Event Committee led by Tracie Oreck, our Board of Directors, staff, CEO Athena Oreck, Board Member Kirk Andrus, Unit Director Elise Giammanco, and our wonderful MC Jason Allen. We are especially grateful to Athena, Kirk, and Elise for sharing heartfelt speeches about the impact of our mission and the importance of creating a place where every young person belongs.

Thank you to Mount Shasta Resort for hosting such a beautiful evening.

And thank you to our table sponsors and supporters:
Mt. Shasta Ski Park, Pipeline, Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office, Mt. Shasta Supermarket, AGT CPAs & Advisors, Roseburg, McLane Maintenance, Pepsi-Cola of Mount Shasta, Oreck Family Partners Real Estate, Rich Toreson Insurance Agency, J & C Land Services, Collette Bradley, Kirsten Stevens, the attendees at our Community Table, and Ray Mac, who wasn’t able to attend but still generously donated.

The theme was A Place to Belong, and on Saturday night, that theme came to life.
Thank you for helping us continue to build a place where local youth feel safe, supported, valued, and like they truly belong. 💙

Outdoor Adventure on Spring Hill! 🥾🌲

Yesterday, Sisson Club members joined our Outdoor Adventure & Education Director, Tyler, and Neil from Rotary for a hike up Spring Hill! Members enjoyed a beautiful day on the trail, getting active, exploring nature, spotting wildlife, and taking in some incredible views of Mount Shasta.

These adventures are about more than just hiking. They help build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Neil and Rotary for partnering with us to provide these amazing experiences for our youth. 💙

We know questions about program funding, site differences, family fees, no-cost options, and financial assistance have been coming up in conversations, online discussions, and social media comments.

To help provide clear and accurate information directly from BGCGS, we created a new Program Funding FAQ on our website.

This FAQ explains:

• Why W**d Elementary and Mount Shasta programs are structured differently
• How district funding, ELOP, SAFE, grants, and restricted funds may impact each site
• Why family fees may still be necessary for some programs
• How BGCGS uses funding and why every dollar goes back into programming
• What financial assistance options may be available, including SCCC support for summer and holiday programs
• Who to contact with questions or to apply for assistance

We encourage families, staff, partners, and community members to read through the full FAQ. Because many of these topics are connected, the information you are looking for may be included under a question that does not exactly match the title you had in mind.

You can access the FAQ here:
https://www.bgcgreatershasta.org/fundingfaq

You can also find it from our website home page by clicking the FAQs button.

New logos, same mission 💙💚

As BGCGS continues to grow, we are excited to introduce new site-specific logos for Mount Shasta and W**d, along with a joint logo representing both communities together and our overall mission of serving youth across Siskiyou County.

Each individual logo highlights the unique view of Mt. Shasta from that location while reflecting the identity, pride, and community of the youth and families we serve.

You will still continue to also see the traditional BGCA blue hands logo that represents the incredible national movement we are proud to be part of.

These logos were created internally by our CEO, Athena Oreck!

If you haven’t yet, check out our previous post for the full expansion announcement and press release!
