Good morning! I am sorry it has taken us so long to post about the holiday meals. I feel like time went so quickly between Halloween and Christmas. I can't believe we are already in our 2nd week of January. Thanks to so many community members and businesses, we were able to help 16 families have everything they needed to have a wonderful Christmas meal. All of the families were so appreciative. As we have mentioned before, our plan is to have a Thanksgiving meal AND Christmas meal this year. Not only will this mean we will have to do more fundraising and outreach, but it means we need more input from you all. We want to have the two meals be different---different sides and desserts to choose from, etc. If you have a side that you think would be great, please send us a private message with the recipe and we will add it. Currently, for the Christmas meal, participants receive stuffing, turkey, salad, rolls, a breakfast item, either a fruit or veggie tray, cookie dough, a pecan, apple, or pumpkin pie, and the choice of 3 sides from: macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and scalloped corn. Please help us think of new additions. We are also open to suggestions on how to make the program better in general. We would like to find a way to incorporate something for the elderly or single individuals so they won't have to deal with so much food. Again, thank you SO MUCH for the amazing way everyone stepped up for our community. Please look for an article in the newspaper soon.
