CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties

CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them.

Mission of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties, Inc., is to train and supervise community volunteers to be a leading voice in advocating for safe, permanent, nurturing homes for children in the foster care system. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA. CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judg

es to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need. CASA volunteers save taxpayers money and children’s futures by helping children find a safe, permanent homes as soon as possible. CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris provides valuable volunteer advocacy for every abused child in this area. CASA volunteers serve as the “eyes and ears” for the judge in child welfare cases. This includes researching each child’s situation and making objective recommendations to help them reclaim their childhoods from abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are frequently the only stable presence in these children’s lives as they navigate the foster care system.

Suzan Wilburn became a CASA of TCM volunteer in November 2025. When asked what inspired her to become involved with CASA, Mrs. Wilburn shared that her great-grandson experienced significant trauma, which gave her a deep desire to help children during difficult times in their lives.
Mrs. Wilburn has a passion for advocating for children who may lack the love, care, and support they deserve. She believes every child should have someone by their side during life’s hardest moments. Since joining CASA of TCM, she has served as an advocate for four children, making a lasting impact through her compassion, dedication, and commitment.
The difference Mrs. Wilburn makes in the lives of the children she serves is truly meaningful and lasting. CASA of TCM would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Suzan Wilburn for being a valued part of CASA and for the incredible support she provides to children in need.

✨ Board Spotlight: Jennifer Marshall ✨

As Jennifer completes her 5th year term on CASA’s Board this August, we celebrate her dedication, passion, and leadership over the years.

🏢 Where she works:
UT Health Pittsburg – Trauma/Stroke Program Manager

🗓 Time on the Board:
5 years

💬 Why CASA?
CASA is one of the most impactful organizations in our community, directly changing the trajectory of children's lives. I chose to serve on the board because I want to be part of that change-not just by supporting the mission, but by helping guide its growth, sustainability, and reach.

❤️ Most Impactful Moment?
One of the most impactful moments for me was attending the Fairy Dust Princess Ball. Seeing some of our foster children smile so big, play, laugh and just be kids - despite the difficult situations they're facing - is incredibly moving. In that space, you're reminded that behind every "case" is a child who deserves joy, stability, and hope. It reinforces exactly why CASA's work, through advocates and volunteers, matters so much.

🦋 Why be a part of CASA?
Because every child deserves someone in their corner - especially during the most uncertain and vulnerable times in their life. CASA gives a voice to children who might otherwise go unheard, and that mission should resonate with everyone. Serving with CASA allows you to advocate at a higher level and help ensure more children have consistent, compassionate support.

Jennifer, thank you for your years of service, your heart for children, and your unwavering commitment to CASA’s mission. We are so grateful for you!
