While October shines a spotlight on breast cancer awareness, screening doesn't just matter in October. Regular mammograms can detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear, when treatment may be most effective.

There was no shortage of song requests! The pianos dueled, and together we supported the HCHC Foundation. 🎹🎶

Thank you to everyone who spent their Hawkeye-free Saturday with us at Dueling Pianos in support of the HCHC Foundation! We had an incredible time celebrating with you. From the entertainment and laughter to the great music, it was truly a night of community.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, attendees, entertainment, and supporters, we raised more than $20,000 to support healthcare needs in Henry County. Those funds help provide:
• Medication assistance
• Patient assistance programs
• Medical equipment and supplies, such as a new Stryker stretcher for the Henry County Health Center Emergency Department
• Our Community Grant Program, which awards $25,000 annually to local nonprofit organizations

💗 Early detection can save lives. Mammograms are one of the most effective tools for finding breast cancer early, when treatment is often most successful. 🎀

Henry County Health Center is offering walk-in screening mammograms on Friday, October 16. No appointment is necessary, patients must be over the age of 40, and normal billing processes apply.

Our 2026 Community Grant Application is officially OPEN!

You might be thinking: A grant application? That sounds like a lot of work.
The good news is we’ve made this one simple! Our application is short, straightforward and doesn’t require pages and pages of writing. Even better, Henry County Health Center Foundation has increased the total funding available this year, up to $25,000, so we can make an even greater impact across our community.

Here’s how it works:
💡 Have an idea that could improve health and well-being in Henry County?
The Foundation will award up to $25,000 in total grant funding to support local organizations and projects that address community health needs, fill service gaps and help create a healthier Henry County.

Who can apply?
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities serving Henry County residents. Projects should broadly improve health and well-being for people within the county. Each organization may submit one application during the 2026 grant cycle.

📅 Application deadline: Thursday, October 15, 2026

Wondering what local grant funding can make possible? Last year, HCHC Foundation grants helped support:

🌳 Preserve Oakland Mills: Repairs needed to reopen the Oakland Mills pedestrian bridge and restore access to outdoor recreation for our community.

🛝 Henry County Conservation: Jared’s Park, an inclusive playground at the Oakland Mills Nature Center designed to give children of all abilities opportunities to play, explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Past grant recipients also include Mount Pleasant Community School District, Wayland Area Childcare Organization, Tiger Food Pantry, Mount Pleasant High School Activities Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Pleasant Library, Henry County Public Health, Mount Pleasant Childcare Center, Family Connection of Henry & Washington Counties and more.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating with pink drinks! 💗💗💗

Today, we shared some pink drinks with employees to raise awareness about the importance of mammograms and breast cancer screenings, while also providing a fun Friday treat.

A special thank you to Sanity Coffee & Coffee Depot in Mount Pleasant for creating some delicious drinks and partnering with the HCHC Foundation. For every pink drink sold during October, proceeds will support breast cancer awareness, education, and outreach efforts right here in Henry County.

Henry County Health Center will host a Walk-In Mammogram Day on Friday, October 16, making it easy to get screened without an appointment. Early detection saves lives, and this is a simple step you can take for your health.
