This October, MMI celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and its 2026 theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent.”

We recognize the skills and contributions people with disabilities bring to the workforce. Through training, work experience, and local employer partnerships, MMI helps people with diverse needs build job skills, pursue meaningful employment, increase independence, and strengthen community connections.

Throughout the month, we’re highlighting the achievements of the people we serve and thanking the businesses and community partners that help turn employment goals into opportunities for an inclusive workforce. Every person brings value. Every talent deserves an opportunity.

MMI was proud to join advocates from across Michigan at the Walk A Mile Rally in Lansing on September 23.

Hosted by the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan (CMHAM), the rally brought people together to advocate for mental health funding, reduce stigma surrounding mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders, and promote wellness for all.

More than 300,000 Michiganders rely on behavioral health services. Events like this help to ensure mental health remains a priority and that everyone has access to the care and support they deserve.

Together, we're raising awareness, advocating for access, and building a stronger, healthier Michigan.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make our Matching Grant such a success!

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, $10,235 was raised, and with the incredible support of United Way of Greater Central Michigan $10,000 matching grant, we reached a total of $20,235!

Every donation, share, word of encouragement, and show of support made a difference. We couldn’t have done this without our amazing community standing behind Mid-Michigan Industries and the people we serve.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen — and a special thank-you to United Way for helping us maximize the impact of every dollar donated.

Fund Fact Friday: United Way was proud to support the work of Mid-Michigan Industries by providing a Matching Grant during the month of August. Supporters contributed $10,235 and United Way maximized those donations by matching the first $10,000, resulting in a successful $20,235 Matching Grant!

👏 Celebrating Harley’s Success!

This summer, Harley Patton participated in the MRS and MMI Summer Employment Program at Brower Park, gaining hands-on work experience while helping maintain the park facilities and grounds.

Throughout the eight-week program, Harley was a dependable and positive member of the team. She worked alongside peers, mentors, and park staff while strengthening her communication, teamwork, and job skills.

Harley continues to build confidence and independence as she works toward her employment goals. We’re excited to celebrate her accomplishments and the experience she gained this summer!
