NWI, our community needs us! ⚡️

Recent severe storms have left families across Gary and Northwest Indiana dealing with spoiled groceries, cleanup costs, and urgent recovery needs.

The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Rho Lambda Chapter, and the Steel City Alphas Foundation are raising $20,000 to provide fresh food baskets and home recovery supplies to storm-affected residents.

💛100% of donations go directly toward relief supplies — no platform fees.

Please join us in congratulating our own, Bro. Antrovel Smith Jr. on earning his Private Pilot License (PPL) through Western Michigan University!

Brother Smith is a third-year junior majoring in Aviation Flight Science and has already logged over 100 hours of flight time. Originally from Saginaw, Michigan, the 20-year-old has demonstrated tremendous discipline and dedication in reaching this milestone.

To earn a Private Pilot License in the United States, pilots must complete rigorous FAA requirements, including flight training, written, oral, and practical examinations. While the FAA minimum is 40 flight hours, the national average is closer to 60.

His next step is pursuing his Instrument Rating as he continues his journey in aviation. Congratulations, Brother! ✈️🔥

This milestone represents your hard work, perseverance, and dedication, and we hope you never take this achievement lightly. Today, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, I encourage each of us to take time to intentionally honor the women who have poured so much into our lives—our mothers, wives, grandmothers and the mother figures who have loved us, prayed for us, supported our visions and stood beside us through every season.

Our ability to lead, serve and uphold the aims of Alpha is often made possible by the strength, sacrifice, patience and love of these remarkable women. Whether she gave you life, helped shape your character or walks beside you as your partner, today is a day to make sure she knows just how deeply she is valued.

Make the call. Send the flowers. Write the note. Give the embrace. Speak the words.

On behalf of the Michigan District, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the women who support our Brotherhood and help make our service possible.

We would like to congratulate Bro. President Darron Moore II (.moore2 | )on a successful senior capstone presentation! His team developed a marina oil skimmer, designed to efficiently remove oil spills in and around marina waters. At the Design Day competition, they placed first place overall, first in the Mechanical Engineering department, and best overall presentation! ⚙️🤙🏾

On April 16–18, the Brothers of the Mighty Michigan District traveled to Indianapolis, IN to represent at the 94th Midwestern Regional Convention. In the true spirit of Brotherhood, they proudly showcased unity, excellence, and a commitment to service—strengthening connections, sharing ideas, and continuing the legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha across the region.🤙🏾❄️
