Hi Whispering Pines property owners. Spring is coming and that means wet, muddy roads. Because we have poor drainage, where water runs across the road, we get potholes. We will start to address this in 2025 and improve your commute with better crowned and graveled roads with clear drainage. For now, we are plugging the big potholes as much as we can. Stay safe and drive slow-

New gate entrance signs are up designating North and South Gate entrances. We will get stain and further enhancements on the north gate sign area next Spring. Thanks to Chett Anderson for the work on these signs.

Canadian thistle is an invasive perennial w**d that almost always grows in patches. The stems and deeply lobed leaves are smooth to the touch, but those leaves come with prickly, painful spines around their margins.
This thorny troublemaker can grow up to five feet tall and produces a beautiful carafe-shaped purple flower in mid-summer or early fall. These flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. That may be the Canada thistle’s only redeeming quality.
These w**ds are not allowed in Whispering Pines! We have spent an enormous amount of time as residents removing these w**ds from our open spaces.
•Watch your property and act quickly when you see these w**ds.
•Kill the w**d by getting the whole root, carefully use herbicide, etc.
•Scout your yard regularly. When you see a Canada thistle plant, nip it at a young age.
•When it blooms, it can spread hundreds of seeds on your property and others.
•Cut blossoms that are blooming and put them in a bag and into the trash! Don't let them spread hundreds of seeds!

August 14 & 15th are our Whispering Pines Chipper / Shredder days this year. This is a chance to get branches smaller than 4.5" in circumference chipped down and your lot cleaned up . Place your green waste piles along your property line by the road and the forest service team will take care of the rest. NO ROOTS can be shredded. Please help clean up your lot area and keep Whispering Pines more fire safe! Questions? [email protected]
