On this day nine years ago, we said goodbye to Keisha but each year on this day (April 10th) we remember Keisha for the wonderful person she was and the impact that she had on our lives. This year Keisha's Angel graduates from high school. Since Angel started playing basketball, she always wore her mom's number. This year Angel would like to ask that as you Remember Keisha this year, that you give at least $15 to the Angel Wings Fund. With your help, we can reach our goal this year!

Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund Supports Hospice Patients

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.- MyMichigan Health Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from the Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund to support the Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant. Designed with a home-like environment, the eight-bed facility offers round-the-clock care for those needing end-of-life care by providing pain management, symptom control, emotional support, as well as spiritual care. Woodland’s hospice team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers who work together to ensure each patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from the Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund,” said Dawn Duffield, hospice manager, MyMichigan Home Care. “Their support will help us to continue providing compassionate care and support that our patients and their families need during this difficult time. We are proud to partner with such a wonderful organization and are truly grateful for their support.”

The Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund is a charitable organization that was established in memory of Keisha Y. Brown, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and member of the Alma and Mt. Pleasant communities who lost her battle with cancer in 2014. The Angel Wings Fund provides financial support to those who share Keisha’s passion for improving the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by cancer.

“We are honored to support the Woodland Hospice House and their dedicated team of health care professionals,” said Damon Brown, late husband and executive director of the Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund. “Their commitment to providing compassionate care to patients and families during one of life's most challenging times aligns with our mission, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their important work.”

The $10,000 donation from the Keisha Y. Brown Angel Wings Fund will help the Woodland Hospice House continue to provide essential services to patients and families in the community.

“Donations like this help provide quality care to patients and their families without the burden of financial stress,” said Duffield. “The hospice team is committed to providing comfort, compassion, and dignity to those in their care.”

So proud of these girls for sharing their story on how cancer has changed their lives. All three of these girls lost their moms to cancer. While there were a few tears, they spoke with confidence and love. I know their moms are smiling down from heaven.

This morning, our 7-12 grade students participated in the Miles for Miracles walk. Sacred Heart Academy raised just over $5,000, which included $1,192 raised by Jordan Hosking, which was matched by SHA. To begin our assembly, three very brave and well-spoken young women (who just happen to be Sacred Heart students ❤️) shared their stories on the loss of their mothers to cancer. Today, the sense of family at Sacred Heart Academy was never more apparent!
Then, Delaney Scully sang the most beautiful rendition of You Can Count on Me by Bruno Mars, while Mr. Keith Osmond accompanied her on guitar.
