Clarence Heilig operated a general store at the corner of Main and Franklin Streets in Mt. Pleasant until 1936 when he sold it to his son, C.G. "Gib" Heilig. The store was later sold to Herman "Ginger" Watts and Marvin Kirk. It was demolished in 1958. (This photo appeared in the 2023 ECHS calendar. This photo of a tree-lined East Franklin St. in Mt. Pleasant is from a postcard postmarked April 2, 1910. Addressed to "Alice" in Brooklyn, NY, it reads in part: "How are you? I am way out in the country. I wish I could see you this morning. It's awful hot here." (This photo was included in the 2022 ECHS calendar.
