Located in Southern New Jersey, Paws Give Me Purpose is a Sanctuary providing a bridge of care that supports senior, hospice and special needs dogs for whatever quality time remains for them.

No matter their age, appearance, or health status, our goal here at PGMP Sanctuary is to provide respect and dignity to all beings.

This week's Wishlist Wednesday is brought to you by one of our newest Sanctuary residents, precious Violet.

After over 10 years of love and loyalty, Violet found herself repaid with a death sentence. She was someone’s baby once, but it seems although she loved unconditionally the feeling was not so mutual.

Her body is frail, her soul is crushed, and yet again we are picking up the pieces of a broken heart while trying to heal her badly neglected body.

Violet’s condition is beyond heartbreaking. Her body has several nasty looking masses including an enormous one she drags around on her tail. She has many missing teeth, severe periodontal disease and a heart murmur.

It is way past time for Violet to have this second chance at life, to receive necessary Vet care in order to be comfortable for as long as she is with us, and to feel loved beyond measure!

Adorable Vera is popping in on this Marvelous Monday to say hello to our wonderful followers and supporters.

As always, we are starting this new week with very full grateful hearts. Week after week we are reminded how lucky we are to be able to say “yes” to the unwanted, abused, neglected, senior, hospice and special needs dogs. The ones whose stories aren’t in the spotlight, but whose lives still matter. Those that still have so much love left to give even if their time with us is short.

Vera and every single one of our Sanctuary residents are grateful to be here and we are thankful for our supporters who are the driving force behind us. YOU believe these lives are worth saving. That is what makes it possible for us to keep our doors open for those in need.

Mike and Sully are popping in to wish you all a Happy Friday and an enjoyable summer weekend.

Separated by the shelter because one was considered adoptable, while the other brother was left behind. He was scheduled for euthanasia because his fear took over. He simply could not handle shelter life alone, he needed his brother.

Thanks to HART for Animals, Inc. for pulling Mike, who ended up needing hospice care, and for alerting us about his brother Sully and bringing him to us too.

Mike and Sully are both wonderful examples of brotherly love. They have their snitty little moments, like most siblings do, but at the end of the day they truly love each other.

There is absolutely nothing like watching these two let go, feel free and happy. These boys truly amaze us with their zest and love for life. Just watching them enjoying every moment of the day truly inspires all of us to be better human beings.

Thanks to all of you PGMP Sanctuary is now their home where they are receiving only the very best care and are loved beyond measure.

Thanks for giving us the ability to do what we do.

The work we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 day a year commitment.

The reality is that most people have no idea what it takes to run a sanctuary until they’ve lived it themselves.

Nothing we do is for recognition, it’s about showing up every single day for the animals who have no one else. We work hard to provide comfort, relieve any pain and help precious souls in their remaining days live with dignity and respect.

Being an animal lover isn’t just about loving animals, it’s about being willing to do what is best for them, even when it’s difficult. While death is a part of life, we do have a choice for these sentient beings and how they die. No dog no matter their age, appearance, or health status should die alone in a shelter.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose not because it’s easy, but because so many others can’t.

We know money is tight for many of you out there, and we hate asking for money, but we need your support now more than ever to continue providing the essential medical care our Sanctuary residents need.

There are those moments in Sanctuary when you doubt what you do, simply because others don’t believe these lives matter as much as others.

There are moments in Sanctuary when you feel like closing your doors due to the lack of public support and understanding about what it is you specifically do. Sometimes we personally go without so a dog can have a second chance at life, no matter how long or short that life may be.

Not only is quality of life important here at Paws Give Me Purpose, quality of passing matters too. The fact that we are all born to die is something we can not change, but we do have a choice for these animals and how they die.

Sometimes, Paws Give Me Purpose is that special place where dogs come to cross that bridge with dignity and love.

We take pride in the work we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose, and small, daily acts of kindness and love toward our pups are what make us who we are as an organization.

Small things with great love is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

We know how many are struggling, but with the difficult medical cases that have recently walked through our doors, and continue to come in, your support is critical more than ever!

We have outstanding vet bills, life saving medications, prescription diets, and supplements administered daily that are greatly needed.

For little Ozzy and the many other special needs seniors that call Paws Give Me Purpose home, we are that special place where they can take a deep breath. They know they are safe, they can smile, and start again.

To everyone reading this post, thank you for joining us on every Sanctuary dog’s journey. Our gratitude and thanks for every follower and supporter is truly immeasurable.

While we acknowledge that we cannot save them all, we recognize the immense impact on the lives we can.

We walk them to the Bridge when their bodies are too broken, too painful, and too damaged; not always because they are old, but because they were failed by the humans who promised to love them forever.

Our Team continues to show up because these souls deserve better. We will keep fighting for dogs like Otto, but we are simply enraged at the fact that we have to keep cleaning up the same heartbreak while the people responsible for abandoning these precious souls in their time of need get to walk away without looking back.

We all bear a responsibility to infuse the world with kindness. Can every life be saved? No, but if we have the ability to give warmth instead of fear, food instead of hunger or even just one chance they wouldn't have had otherwise, we try.

Today is $5 Friday. For all of you who know us well by now, you know how much we hate asking for money – but we are truly scraping the bottom of our bank account.

Without your help we cannot continue to give these precious unwanted souls life – their best lives unconditionally, as well as the continued ability to help others in need.
