I recently received a great medical report from my hematologist about my Sickle Cell Anemia, I was diagnosed when I was four weeks old. With medication, proper nutrition, exercise, and rest, I am making great progress. I started to think about the last time that I was in the hospital. Although it's been a while, I thought about all of the children I saw when I was there and all the time I spent in
bed resting, playing board games, and watching TV. Even though there were toys and activities all around me, I always wished for a cool science experiment to work on. I have a deep passion and interest in science and hope to study it further in college. I began to think of a way that I could help other patients, like myself, with something that could brighten their day. I talked it over with my parents and my brother and this idea of providing kids in the hospital with a science experiment came to life. I talked it over with my nurses and doctors and they thought it was a great idea. I hope that I can bring a little joy and excitement to kids who would enjoy a bit of "Science For Sick Dayz".
