A few months back, we shared a story we don’t talk about enough:

How one metric quietly started steering everything in the wrong direction… and nearly cost us the company.

This is how we caught it and what we changed in NJ to turn things around.

Stepping away from the data and into some creativity 🎨

Our team came together at headquarters for a Sip & Paint night—because strong teams aren’t just built in sessions, they’re built in moments like these.

Grateful for a group that knows how to work hard, support each other, and have a little fun along the way.

More of this, always.

As organizations grow, one of the biggest risks is relying on time-based models that don’t always reflect true impact. Pay for performance shifts the focus back to what actually matters: measurable outcomes.

By aligning compensation with performance, you reinforce the behaviors that drive results, increase accountability, and ensure effort translates into meaningful value for the organization.

But measurement doesn’t stop once a system is built. As organizations scale, systems must continue to be measured, refined, and evolved. What worked at one stage of growth can quietly become ineffective - or even counterproductive - over time.

That’s where auditing becomes critical. Even long-standing systems need to be revisited and challenged, because without ongoing evaluation, they can drift and start pulling the organization in the wrong direction without anyone noticing.

What you reinforce is what you get - so make sure you’re still reinforcing the right things.

Here is a small snip-it of an incredible internal discussion with , , and Kate Wiamer reflecting on the challenges PDA faced over the past year.

We talked about what it really means to stay analytical under pressure - identifying a single, meaningful target, measuring it consistently, and allowing the data to guide our decisions. Interestingly, this mirrors a concept in quantum physics: when you observe and measure something with precision, you influence its outcome.

In our case, narrowing our focus and tightening our measurement systems didn’t just track behavior - it shifted it. The result was more stable patterns, more reliable data, and ultimately better outcomes across the organization.

A reminder that in both science and behavior analysis, what you choose to measure matters - because measurement itself can be a powerful intervention.
