Out and about while babywearing this winter? Read this first ❄️

Skip the bulky layers: dress your baby in light layers and use your coat (plus your body heat) to keep them warm.

Keep baby’s face in view: you should always see your baby’s face with nothing in the way as layers shift. AND skip the scarf! It can block airflow.

Dress yourself for traction: make sure you’re in nonslip shoes to help prevent falls on icy sidewalks.

Unwrap joy AND peace of mind this holiday season with these battery safety tips for baby.

Before the fun is powered ON:

- Use only devices with screwed-shut battery covers— discard the rest.
- Never let babies play with batteries or battery-powered devices—keep out of sight and reach.
- Button batteries can cause life-threatening injuries if swallowed.
- Swallowing signs: cough, drooling, won’t eat.
- If you suspect or know that a button battery is swallowed, go to the ER right away! Don’t wait for symptoms!

Holiday shopping for little ones? Don’t forget safety!

Choose:

- Machine-washable stuffed toys
- Sturdy plastic with “non-toxic” labels
- UL-Approved electric toys with battery compartments that need a tool to open

Skip:

- Toys that are labeled “Not Intended for Children Under 3”
- Toy with parts small enough to fit inside a toilet paper roll (choking hazards!)
- Vintage toys (may contain lead)

A safe gift is the best gift of all.

Festive doesn’t always mean safe.

As we all start filling our homes with holiday decor, let’s create a safe space for the littlest members of our families by keeping the following items out of reach:

Holiday Plants
Popular plants like holly and mistletoe are pretty, but they are harmful if ingested.

Ornaments, Ribbons, Lights, & Cords
Small ornaments and loose ribbons can pose choking and strangulation hazards, while bulbs and electrical cords can burn or shock.

Candles
Open flames can be easily pulled or knocked over, especially when placed on tablecloths that children can tug.

Let’s enjoy this season’s magic, while protecting curious hands. For more helpful baby safety tips 👉 BabySafety101.org
