Ever wonder what stories the forest leaves behind in the snow? 🐾

Join us for Common Ground: Wildlife Tracking on Protected Land and learn how to read the landscape through the ancient practice of animal tracking. Together with Westchester Land Trust and Somers Land Trust, we’ll explore how wildlife moves through protected land and how conservation efforts help create safe corridors for animals to thrive.

Participants will observe tracks, patterns, and wildlife behavior while discovering how local land trusts work together to protect habitat here in Westchester.

We’re so excited to join our friends at Westchester Land Trust and Somers Land Trust to explore the tracks and trails of the wildlife that make Rhinoceros Creek Reservation their home! Make sure to register so you don’t miss your chance!

On Saturday, March 14, join us at Rhinoceros Creek Reservation for 🐾Common Ground: Wildlife Tracking on Protected Land🐾, a gentle morning walk from 10–11:30 AM and the first program in our Common Ground series, which explores how land use shapes ecosystems across the seasons.

Together, we’ll slow down and read the forest floor, following animal tracks and signs to better understand how wildlife moves through protected land, and how thoughtful stewardship gives these species room to thrive alongside us.

This walk is offered in partnership with Somers Land Trust, stewards of this beautiful landscape, and The Rewilding School, whose work helps deepen relationships with the natural world.

Compliance is not learning.

Children aren’t meant to spend their days sitting still, staying quiet, and following directions on repeat. Real learning happens when kids can move, explore, question, and engage with the world around them.

At The Rewilding School, learning happens in all seasons. Kids are outside year-round, building resilience, confidence, and real-world skills through hands-on experiences in nature.

The outdoors gives children what many traditional settings can’t:
🌿 space to move
🌿 time to wonder
🌿 freedom to get messy
🌿 opportunities to problem-solve, collaborate, and lead

These wild programs are great for all kids, but you may especially notice the difference for the boys labeled “too active,” the girls told they’re “too loud,” and the kids who move too much, talk too much, and think out loud.

If you’ve ever felt like something essential has been missing from traditional learning environments, this is your invitation to think differently.

Let kids run, climb, build, and explore.
Let them learn by doing, in the heat, the cold, the mud, and the magic.

There’s no one-size-fits-all summer experience. 🌿

At Rewilding School’s Wild Summer — our Westchester County summer program — we offer a range of themed weeks designed for different ages, interests, and energies.

From Tales of the Wild to Woodland Warriors to Way of the Blade, each theme invites kids to explore nature in their own way.

Choosing the right camp starts with knowing your child — their spark, their curiosity, their comfort zones.

We’ll help you match them with a week that grows their confidence and their love for the wild. ☀️
