A little over a week ago, we experienced something incredibly special with a butterfly while hanging out with some of our favorite people. It was spiritual. It was majestic. It had us all covered in chills while tears poured from our eyes.
Rather than giving you a play by play, I’m going to share the words written by my friend, my brother from another mother,
Rick Blair, for he describes it perfectly. I will tell you this though, the butterfly interacted solely with me, Dylon, and Ryder…landing on each of us individually and allowing us to transport it to each other…fingertip to fingertip…especially Dylon. The only exceptions were it landing on my Kyler shirt, Karmyn’s water bottle, and a brief visit with Rick by the basketball goal. The butterfly came back 3 different times and spent 10-15 minutes with us at each visit.💜3️⃣🦋
The Butterfly Who Stayed.
We were gathered by the water, laughing in the summer sun, two hearts carrying the memory of a daughter and a little sister one.
Then a butterfly came drifting, brilliant colors in the air, not just passing for a moment, but sitting with us there.
It landed on a shoulder, then on a finger tip
as if it knew the road they’d traveled,
the heavy burden of the trip.
All afternoon it stayed there, through the stories and the tears, like a tiny winged reminder, love can outlive the years.
Maybe Heaven sent a messenger, God just made a way,
for us to feel her presence
in the butterfly who stayed.
The wind would gently lift it, yet it always came back near,
as if to say “I’m still beside you,
believe me, I am here!”
So when the day was ending, and it finally flew away, it left behind a little peace,
the butterfly who stayed.
And somewhere beyond our seeing, where forever lights the sky,
Ambria smiled upon us, through the wings of a butterfly 🦋 💜
