The Service Unit is a committee of local citizens--business and professional people--who represent The Salvation Army in a community where no Salvation Army officer is assigned to serve. These local citizens--The Service Unit--are interested in the moral, physical and spiritual wellbeing of their fellow citizens. They have confidence in The Salvation Army as an organization. They believe that its

program of religious and social service activities lend to the betterment of the community. These local citizens and leaders in the community are joined together as volunteers to assist The Salvation Army unselfishly in rendering desirable and acceptable service.
