Today, Cadet Captain Copeland and Officer Mosher made some campers’ day a little brighter! Kids received police sticker badges, coloring books, and coupons for a free treat from our local McDonald’s!

These moments are just one of the many ways our cadets engage with the community — and they definitely made an impression! As we drove away, one camper shouted: “Bye police, I love you!”

Congratulations to Cadet Robert Copeland on his promotion to Cadet Captain. Cadet Copeland has been with the program for multiple years now and has completed the necessary requirements to become Cadet Captain. This position brings on more responsibilities and extra time commitment. Congratulations to Cadet Captain Copeland!

We would also like to say thank you to Mount Gilead Fire Department for giving the new cadets a tour of the fire department and showing them all of the different equipment you use and what calls you respond too.

Our cadets also practiced scenario based medical emergency calls, traffic stops, and practiced their Buckeye State Sheriff Codes and Signals for radio use.

The Cadets learned how to properly approach a vehicle during a traffic stop, as well as what to do during a high-risk traffic stop! The Cadets received 4 hours of hands-on training, as well as 2 hours of in-classroom traffic citation writing. Interested in joining? Reach out to Officer Mosher for more details!

Our new cadets went through the required training to become CPR-certified! This training was provided to the cadets, alongside officers of the Mount Gilead Police Department, free of charge by one of Mount Gilead’s firefighters!

For all Morrow County residence ages 14-20.
Are you interested in the field of law enforcement and public safety? Are you wanting to join a team of like minded individuals and gain first hand experiences with first responders? Come out to the Mount Gilead Police Department on November 1st at 6pm.

At the meeting we will be providing information about the Mount Gilead Cadet program. We will be informing on who we are, what we do and what up coming training/events we will be doing. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. Pizza will be provided.

Congratulations to Cadet Copeland on passing all requirements to begin the ride-along portion of our program! All cadets who participate in this portion of the program have received training in CPR, first aid, and the use of the AED. They also have passed the codes and signals exam!!
