10. Scouting must be done prior to the second Sunday in June. Entry onto the property is broken into two categories:
A: SCOUTING-Scouting is the act of assessing where you will place your stands, travel patterns of the deer and overall desirability of a particular area to you the hunter. This is the most impacting to the deer and is definitely the type of land access and behavior that makes the whitetails change their patterns and become a nocturnal creature. It is imperative that we limit all heavy scouting and foot traffic in order for us to not alert the deer to our presence.
B: CORN PLACEMENT/CLIMBER RELOCATION-This may be done only on Saturdays and Sundays between the second Sunday in June and the last day of rifle season. All corn placement/climber relocation regardless of date will be done with the following conditions:
-No more than two people at one location at one time (club work days are an exception)
-No off trail venturing or scouting of any kind shall be performed
-Be as quiet, odor free and quick as possible.
Studies on collared deer have shown that almost every time a hunter penetrated an area the mature deer in that core area are aware of your visit. Once is fine, twice is questionable but three times and the deer will relocate at a long distance away. We will not tolerate the unnecessary impact of the casual hunter who claims they did not have time to scout and learn the land prior to June 1st. Our goal is to have the serious deer hunter who makes it their mission to commit to excellence in hunting and scouting throughout the entire year.
