We are honored to have started the campaign to get this done. It has been six years since the first donation request flyer was disbursed to the public, and three years since School Board approval of the project. We are proud of the impact this initiative will have on thousands of Mount Dora families, for decades to come. 🎉

Some days, this work just leaves us speechless.

We are incredibly honored to receive a $7,500 grant from the Lake Youth Philanthropy Council and the Mount Dora Community Trust to support The Care Closet’s food programs.

What makes this award especially meaningful is knowing it was awarded by a group of young people who care deeply about their community and want to make it better. To see the next generation stepping up, learning the power of giving back, and trusting us with these funds is pretty amazing.

As someone who spends a lot of time worrying about the future for our kids, seeing young people choose to invest in their community gives me so much hope. Their belief in our mission means more than they probably know.

Every dollar of this grant will help us keep food on the shelves and ensure local children and families have access to the support they need.

To the Lake Youth Philanthropy Council and the Mount Dora Community Trust, thank you for believing in The Care Closet. We are grateful, humbled, and excited to put these funds to work for our community.

A simple opportunity is giving Mount Dora residents a chance to make a lasting local impact while helping restore the city’s beloved tree canopy.
Thanks to Mount Dora Community Trust and the W.T. Bland Jr. Charitable Trust, donations to the Mount Dora Friends of the Environment nonproft will be matched dollar-for-dollar through May 9, up to $50,000. The goal is to raise $100,000 to plant oak trees along city streets for years to come, helping replace and preserve Mount Dora’s iconic canopy—meaning every contribution not only goes twice as far, but directly supports the future shade and beauty of the community. The link to donate is in the comments.
