A signal boost is defined as when someone with a larger platform shines a light on someone with a smaller platform to give them more attention. This signal boost comes to us from Mt. Carmel Rally For Justice.
This page was created as a placeholder two days before the event. Had our tabling and volunteer work turned out to be a success we were going to use that experience as a springboard for further organization, hoping at the time, with Mt. Carmel Rally For Justice.
Our volunteers, who were trans individuals that had contacted MTC Rally for Justice beforehand and had shown up intending to table and volunteer, were turned away. They watched as a straight-presenting person showed up unannounced to volunteer and was praised for their allyship.
Mt. Carmel Rally for Justice knows this happened and is denying that it every happened. Instead of taking any degree of accountability, they have instead opted to make a post to their own page accusing us of making factually incorrect claims and spreading false information while they heavily imply that we do not have members living in Wabash County.
This post has it's comments locked. Naturally, followers of that page have come here with accusations, demands, and confrontational comments while organizations of Mt. Carmel Pride comment on their personal accounts while speaking over marginalized voices, demanding the identities of the volunteers who were turned away, and generally treating this issue like it is an attack on a group of longsuffering allies rather than a rallying call for justice against a group that only cares about Trans people when we are posing for their social media posts.
(Also, we aren't deleting your comments. However, people who engage in abusive behavior are having their comments hidden.)
