Today was like Christmas Morning! Adding a field within the Town for the Softball girls to play on has been a work of love the last year and a half.
Seeing a need and being able to fill it with A LOT of help from volunteers throughout the softball/baseball community, along with all the donations to the MAYAA program finally came to fruition today!
First 3 photos reflect the Twin Ridge Elementary upper field as of Nov. 2024. This was once upon a field but sadly sat vacant and unused/ not maintained long enough for mother nature to claim. We had volunteers from MAYAA softball and baseball come out and skim the field, to make it a field again, only to discover it was all rock!
Then unfortunately the grass decided to come back with a vengeance by July of 2025. I had a baby and was not able to keep up on the field maintenance that is required for a few months, so with a lot of help from my husband and kids we weedwacked, mowed, sprayed and dragged all summer into the Fall of 2025. Slowly but surely sifting the rock from this field.
Finally! Spring 2026 season has come and we were able to put 2 truck loads of fresh ballfield dirt, clean out all the leaves and weeds and now the rocks are non existent and it is fully prepared for cleats and the girls to get down and dirty!
With the growth of our program, this was much needed! Just in time for the sun and warm weather!
