Definition: Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors in relationships used to gain/maintain control of an intimate partner.

Domestic violence (DV) is often associated with physical abuse. Most survivors of do not even realize they have been abused.

DV can include physical abuse (punching, kicking, hitting) but it is not limited to physical abuse.

It is also:
Manipulation
Gaslighting
Control
Possessiveness
Isolation
Financial abuse
Sexual abuse

Just because a survivor does not have any physical scars does not make what they’ve been through less traumatic than the next survivor. 💜💜💜

Good morning! I’d like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Ashley Hardy. I am your 2023 Miss Alabama Cosmos US.
✨A little about me: I am 26 years old. I have a bachelors in sociology from The University of West Alabama, but I am back in school again! I will graduate from The University of North Alabama with my Masters in Social Work (MSW). 💛💜
My platform is Rising Above Domestic Violence. Please go like and follow this page. Domestic violence is a sensitive topic but does need to be talked about. I plan to educate and spread awareness to hopefully prevent as many people being affected by domestic violence.

Yes I am new to pageants, but I have been doing my research and I very excited to represent Alabama at Nationals in West Virginia! Please continue to keep up with me and follow me throughout this journey. It doesn’t end after nationals! This will be a year of new experiences and opportunities.
