West Virginia Department of Human Services announced applications for the Emergency Low Income Energy Assistance Program (ELIEAP) will be accepted from June 8 through June 26, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

The federally funded program assists eligible state residents in paying home heating or cooling bills. Residents whose primary heating and cooling source is gas or electricity must provide a termination notice or a past due utility bill when applying for ELIEAP. Households using other primary heating sources or bulk fuel may qualify for assistance if their heating fuel levels are critically low during the application period.

Residents must apply in person at their local DoHS office. A directory of local offices is available at dohs.wv.gov/field-offices. Applications will be processed while funding remains available.

West Virginia Department of Human Services today announced applications for the Emergency Low Income Energy Assistance Program (ELIEAP) will be accepted from June 8 through June 26, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

Households that received a direct payment through the regular Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) must verify that the benefit was used for home heating expenses. Applicants must submit a current receipt equal to the amount of LIEAP assistance received along with their ELIEAP application. Failure to provide verification of payment will result in denial of the application.

Eligibility for ELIEAP is based on household income, household size, and responsibility for paying home heating or cooling costs. To qualify, households must meet all program requirements and be experiencing an energy emergency that could disrupt their primary heating or cooling source if assistance is not provided.

The income limit for Fiscal Year 2026 is 60 percent of the State Median Income. The maximum allowable gross income levels for ELIEAP Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 are listed below:

*For each additional household member, add $688. Households whose countable income exceeds the maximum allowable amount are not eligible for assistance. Certain types of income may be excluded when determining ELIEAP eligibility.

Residents must apply in person at their local DoHS office. A directory of local offices is available at dohs.wv.gov/field-offices. Applications will be processed while funding remains available.

Saturday, we had a fun filled Sensory Safe & Sensitive Summer Kick-Off Bash! Families enjoyed a variety of activities designed to encourage exploration and play, including rock painting, bug mask crafts, bird feeder making, coloring, games, and a Play-Doh station.

We were thrilled to partner with the Ohio Valley Special Needs Parent Support Group and look forward to more opportunities to bring families together throughout the year.

The Marshall County Family Resource Network (FRN), in partnership with EQT Corporation and Marshall County Schools, WV, is proud to announce the installation of a new Community Blessing Box at McNinch Elementary School.

The addition of the McNinch Elementary Blessing Box expands a growing network of community-supported food resources across Marshall County. Blessing Boxes are stocked with free, non-perishable food items that are available to anyone in need. The new box was installed with the assistance of volunteers from EQT.

The McNinch Elementary Blessing Box joins a network of existing locations throughout the county, including Cameron Elementary, Central Elementary, John Marshall High School, Sand Hill Elementary, Washington Lands Elementary, East End Park, Riverfront Park, Limestone EMS Building, and several other community sites. Community Blessing Box locations can be found on the FRN website: https://marshallcountyfrn.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Blessing-Boxes-Flyer-3.pdf.

Community members are encouraged to support the program by donating new, non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, soups, snacks, and other shelf-stable products. Donations can be placed directly in any Blessing Box or dropped off at the Marshall County FRN office.

FRN BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Dana Schrack serves as a School Social Worker at Cameron High School and is passionate about supporting students, families, and the work being done throughout Marshall County.

When asked about her favorite FRN initiative, Dana shared:
“The FRN does so many great things, but my favorite initiative is the Healthy Classroom Essentials program for Marshall County schools.” She also reflected on how meaningful it has been to watch the program grow over the years: “Years ago, when I first started working with the FRN, I shared this idea with them. They took it and truly ran with it—developing it into something even better than I had imagined.”

Now working within the school system, Dana sees firsthand “how valuable this support is and how much of a difference it makes.” As a former Marshall County FRN employee and social worker, Dana says she chose to serve because she is “deeply passionate about the work the FRN does” and wants to help support its mission however she can.

We had a wonderful morning at Grand Vue Park on Thursday for our Very Hungry Caterpillar Playgroup! Children enjoyed making caterpillars, creating bug masks, playing at the playground, and more.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We loved seeing children learn, play, and connect with friends in the outdoors! It’s a nice way to make other parent friends too.

Make sure to join us for our June Playgroup and June Mom Walk & Talks!
