Westonka Snoblazers

Westonka Snoblazers A club dedicated to the sport of snowmobiling. The Westonka Snoblazers are part of the Southwest Trails Association.

We are a group of snowmobilers from the western suburbs of the Minneapolis area who are interested in social activities which of course include all things snowmobiles. We assist the SW Trails with trail maintenance. We are active in the Mound Westonka community year-round. We assist the Midwest Vintage Snowmobile Club put on its annual show in Waconia. This is the main fundraiser for our club each

year. And of course, we go on out of town snowmobile trips as well as ride locally around the Lake Minnetonka area. If you like snowmobiling, join us at one of our meetings see what we are all about! President: JD Tomzak
Vice President: Justin Swick
Secretary: Bryan Blommel

Prime example of why we lose snowmobile trails. Sure isn’t the landowners fault

Southwest Trails Association Grant-In-Aid Snowmobile Trails Will Remain Closed

As I’m sure all snowmobilers are aware, snow is in the forecast! Unfortunately, the good news stops here, forecasted snow totals will not allow for us to open our Grant-In-Aid trails across private land.
• we lack frost in the ground and ice on connecting lakes and low-lying wetlands (this risks damage to underlying ground cover, unsafe conditions, and accelerated snow melt)
• spring field work has begun and standing crops that would be protected in a typical year will be in a vulnerable condition

Because of these factors the forecasted snow would not remediate the unsuitable ground conditions that unfortunately exist to open all trails for the final week of the season.

See attached snippet from MN DNR Handbook for riding options outside of Grant-In-Aid Trail systems (Think HWY 7/CR21)

This is a time to show grace to the landowners that generously grant us permission to create out local trail network year after year. Let’s finish the season strong keeping what we have (and some notable enthusiasm for the 2025 season). We are in a vulnerable state to keep what we have – let’s not accelerate that.

This is not an enjoyable message to send – if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me:
