Question. I'm looking for a lot for sale how can I find one?
Answer 1. Probably the best way to quickly find a lot for sale would be to go to the Clubhouse at Sugar Valley Lakes or the Recreation Center at Hidden Valley Lakes and check the bulletin board where paper postings (3x5 cards) can be found advertising lots for sale. Sometimes owners advertise their lot here on this page. Often times the Linn County Treasurer will have lake lots unsold from prior years tax foreclosure sales. I can't remember the price but believe they are less than $100 and you can buy them immediately. If you can wait, there will be the County Tax sale (2016 on July 8; 9am) where sometimes low-bid on lots is less than $5. The Association will still charge a prorated dues for the year. Follow this link.. (http://www.linncountyks.com/) and search for tax forclosure sale. If you plan to bid at the tax sale, get to the courthouse early as you have to register to bid.
Finally, the Homes Association always has an inventory of lots for sale. There are maps of the subdivisions in the Clubhouse and Recreation Center. The Linn County mapping department will also provide maps for a fee. Warning, if you buy a lot from an individual get something showing that dues and county taxes are current. The Linn County Treasurer and Association Sold lots should be free of liens and encumbrances. Other members feel free to comment on this post.
