Another memorable week in Manhattan celebrating leadership, achievement, and agriculture at the Kansas FFA State Convention!

Tuesday:
Breanna Walton and Ryland (RJ) Summers traveled to Manhattan to begin rehearsals with the Kansas FFA Band.

Wednesday:
Once the rest of the crew arrived to Manhattan, delegates Haelie Wallace and Hazel Vaughn participated in delegate activities and discussions focused on the future of Kansas FFA, while Breanna and RJ continued band practice. Jayden Holt, serving as a District Officer, helped facilitate discussions throughout the delegate sessions. That evening, members attended the Opening Session and enjoyed the Parker Ryan concert at The Hat.

Thursday:
Members attended Sessions 2 and 3 of the convention. Cooper Lanham was recognized for receiving a Kansas FFA SAE Grant during Session 2. In Session 3, Truman Schneider was recognized as a State Proficiency Award Finalist, with RJ stepping in to represent him on stage. That afternoon, chapter members supported Breanna and RJ as they performed in the Kansas FFA Band and Chorus Concert.

Friday:
The final day was packed with celebrations and recognition! During Session 5, chapter officers walked across the stage to receive our National Chapter Award recognition. The National Land Judging Team was also recognized for their accomplishments. During Session 6, nine members officially received their Kansas FFA State Degrees. We wrapped up convention during Session 7 by cheering on Breanna and RJ one final time as they performed with the Kansas FFA Band and celebrating the announcement of the new Kansas FFA officer team.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that the JLHS FFA Land Team recently competed at the 2026 National Land Judging Contest and earned an impressive 18th place finish out of over 100 teams from across the country! This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and knowledge of land evaluation, soil structure, and conservation practices.
A special congratulations goes to Jayden Holt for placing in the Top 25 individuals out of nearly 400 competitors representing 32 states nationwide! Representing JLHS on a national stage is an incredible achievement, and these students have truly made our school and community proud. Congratulations to the entire team on an amazing year — we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

All year long our FFA members have been practicing and working hard at every district and invitational competition. At the Kansas CDES this last week we had some individuals whose hard work really payed off. Senior Eleanor Vaughn placed 2nd place in Poultry Judging, and Junior Aubreigh Summers placed 4th in Dairy Cattle Evaluation!!! We are so proud of all members participating in their respective CDEs!! We had a great year as a Chapter and are excited for next year!

Dont forget JL FFA members, YQCA training in the Ag Room tomorrow at 2:30 if you are showing an animal at the fair. If you miss this one you will be responsible for attending one on your own or completing it online.

The 2025-2026 FFA banquet has been concluded. As our officers pass on the torch and the seniors finish up their FFA careers we got to look back on all the accomplishments our members have had this past year. Although the year is close to being over we still have the honor to compete at Kansas FFA CDES and National Land Judging. It has been an amazing year and we expect next year to be no different!

We had a great day at the Linn County 4th Grade Aggie Day! Members taught students from Mound City, LaCygne, Parker and Pleasanton all about different aspects of agriculture.
