πŸ’™ A Community Coming Together for Ms. Emma πŸ’™

When 78-year-old Ms. Emma came to Moultrie from Albany for treatment at the Edwards Cancer Center, she was facing more than a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. She was living in a boarding house that had become an unsafe situation, and she needed help.

United Way of Colquitt County took Ms. Emma on as a special case and connected her with Serenity House, where she found a safe place to stay during a difficult time. From there, Serenity House helped her secure an affordable apartment of her ownβ€”a place she could finally call home.

The next step was turning that apartment into a home. United Way helped purchase some necessary household item. Thanks to furniture donated by Holiday Inn Express during its remodel and generous donations from community members, Ms. Emma's new space has become a cozy retreat where she can rest and focus on her health.

A special thank you to MCCPRA and Crossroads for providing the muscle needed to help move Ms. Emma into her new home. Your willingness to step up and serve made all the difference.

Ms. Emma's story is a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together. We are incredibly fortunate to live in a place where organizations, businesses, and individuals are always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need. This is what Colquitt County is all about. ❀️
