Blessed… Simply Blessed…

VBS at Weeks Chapel UMC blessed the Hero House with beautifully decorated bags filled with goodies for those in need. The children thoughtfully decorated each bag and carefully placed items inside to share with others who may be facing difficult times.

These special bags are more than gifts—they are expressions of God’s love, kindness, and compassion. Seeing these young hearts serve others so selflessly is a reminder that even the smallest acts of generosity can make a big difference.

Thank you, Weeks Chapel UMC and your amazing VBS children, for sharing your blessings and helping spread hope throughout our community. We are truly grateful!

We are so grateful for our community. Oakdale Baptist Church WMU program provided our center with some much need necessities!! We are so proud to be associated with such a giving group of ladies! These bags were packed full of just what we needed❤️

May marked 8 years of leadership, dedication, and heart at the Hero House for our Executive Director, Regina Dismuke. 💙

Over the past eight years, the Hero House has experienced tremendous growth and milestones that continue to impact children and families throughout our community:

• Launching our SANE Program in 2020
• Building a soundproof forensic interview room in 2023
• Opening our new center in 2025
• Celebrating 25 years of serving Colquitt County in October 2025

Growth like this does not happen through one person alone — it takes a village of staff, board members, multidisciplinary partners, supporters, and a community committed to protecting children.

Thank you, Regina, for your leadership and for continually helping move the mission of the Hero House forward. The work being done today is creating hope and healing for tomorrow. 💙

For the past six years, our Forensic Medical Program has continued to grow and strengthen because of the dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment of an incredible team. 💙

Today we want to recognize and celebrate our four amazing nurses who faithfully serve children and families through some of their most difficult moments. Your care reaches far beyond medicine — you bring comfort, safety, kindness, and hope when it is needed most.

We also want to recognize the leadership and dedication of our Co-Directors, Dr. Patricia June and Dr. Daphne Mlachila, whose guidance and passion continue to help our program thrive.

Because of each of you, children in our community receive compassionate care and support when they need it most. Thank you for all you do for the Hero House and for the children and families we serve each day. 💙

Thank you Colquitt County for supporting the Hero House and Child Abuse Awareness Month by changing the color of our courthouse to blue!!! We will continue to fight this cause together!

A visible reminder across our community that child abuse awareness matters.
That protecting children is something we all take part in.

At Hero House, we are honored to walk alongside children and families—offering hope, healing, and a safe place to land.

What are we doing here at the Hero House? Our equipment for meetings and trainings is being installed. We are excited for the next steps in this process. Our training/meeting room is an amazing addition to our facility.
