The Chamber congratulates our Colquitt County School District on being one of only six school districts in Georgia to earn the Economic Development Partnership designation! 👩‍🏫

This accomplishment highlights the impact of strong partnerships between our schools, local businesses, and community. We are proud to celebrate this achievement and the continued investment in Colquitt County students and our local workforce!

This designation recognizes our work connecting Colquitt County CTAE programs with local workforce needs and creating meaningful career opportunities for students. From 276 Work-Based Learning students earning more than $1.29 million in wages to more than 1,200 students participating in career-focused events, our community is helping students turn opportunity into their future. 🌟

We are happy to congratulate Tyson Steel Buildings, Inc. on being named October Business of the Month. Located at 361 Doerun Road in Doerun, the family owned and operated company is led by Brad and Jody Tyson and celebrates 50 years in business.

Founded in 1976 by James L. Tyson, the business began as a small secondary material supply company. Over the years, it has grown into a manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings, serving customers throughout the Southeast and beyond.

Brad and Jody grew up in the family business, spending summers learning the operation from the fabrication side up. Along the way, they gained hands-on experience and developed strong relationships with employees and customers. In May 2005, they took over management, continuing to build on the foundation their father established.

Today, Tyson Steel supplies complete metal building packages for agricultural, residential, and commercial projects. From farm storage and equipment shelters to backyard shops, garages, and commercial spaces, the company offers building packages tailored to customers’ needs. Contractors and do-it-yourself customers can also purchase individual parts and components for their projects.

Built on faith and hard work, Tyson Steel combines generations of experience with an ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction. Brad and Jody look forward to their children carrying on the family legacy, building on the knowledge and relationships developed over the past five decades.

The company also recently announced plans for its first South Carolina manufacturing operation in Liberty, located in Pickens County. The new facility is expected to begin operations in 2027, marking another milestone in Tyson Steel’s continued growth.

Moultrie-Colquitt County was named the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Rural Community of the Year during yesterday’s State of Rural Prosperity event in Tifton!

This recognition celebrates the leadership, collaboration, and commitment of people across our community who work together to tackle challenges and create opportunities.

For us, this work is personal. These are our neighbors, our families, and the businesses that make our community home. Every partnership and every step forward matters because of the people whose lives we have the opportunity to help improve.

This honor belongs to everyone who shows up, contributes, and believes in what Moultrie-Colquitt County can accomplish together. We are grateful to the Georgia Chamber for recognizing that work and proud of the community we represent.
