********** Be sure to read to the end of this post *********
Good morning everyone, what a season we have had, the best snow in years, our grooming operation had very few mechanical issues and our groomers hit the trails hard and often. All contributing to what has been a great season.
Our Trail Master, Eric Erving, has been checking out our trails this morning after we received about 3 inches of snow last night, and conditions are actually pretty good. So he has decided to keep the trails open, into this weekend, for as long as possible. Officially, we would say our trails are in moderate condition, with quite a few areas in good shape.
Please keep in mind that some of our trails lead to water crossings. It is important to understand that ice is not part of our trails, and that we do not evaluate if it is safe to cross. That is up to each individual to determine before venturing onto the ice. Conditions can and do change rapidly, exercise an abundance of caution.
So what does this all mean? Please be careful on the trails, you may run into thin spots, open water bars and maybe some bare spots. Today is projected to be overcast with highs just above freezing and will be the coldest day for the next week or two, so the writing for this season is on the wall.
From the weather that is forecast this weekend, we expect to be able to stay open until at least Saturday evening. We will re-evaluate at that time. If conditions have deteriorated, we will close the trails. Unfortunately, with the warm conditions forecast for the next 8 days or so, we don't have high hopes for the rest of March, but time will tell.
Please check here and/or our sign next to Haffner's, for current info on trail status.
