Our school is proud to announce that Pruitt Layman has won an honorable mention in the 2022-2023 Payback Challenge from NGPF!

The annual scholarship competition challenges high school students to play PAYBACK, a Webby Award-winning college cost simulation featured in the New York Times. In the game, students endeavor through a 4-year university, balancing their character's academic focus, happiness, and career networking opportunities while minimizing their student debt burden. For the scholarship competition, each student reflects on their experience in an essay, podcast clip, or video. Graders throughout the U.S. review each submission anonymously, and the best submissions win scholarship funds provided by the financial education non-profit Next Gen Personal Finance.

Pruitt's entry was selected from over 1,000 Payback Challenge submissions this year to receive an honorable mention, which includes scholarship funds that can be used for any educational or career pursuit after graduation.

Congratulations, Pruitt!

The Lawrence County Career Technical Center FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is once again partnering with our local March of Dimes office to promote “Prematurity Awareness Month” through the state “Blue Jeans for Babies” event. We are very excited about this year’s campaign! March of Dimes is offering 5 color options to choose from and all adult & youth shirts come in short sleeve and long sleeve (Except for tie dye option, which is only available in short sleeve)! The tees are $25 for short sleeves and $30 for long sleeves sizes S-XL (add $2 for 2XL and 3XL). Please look over the attached flyer for colors and designs. Remember your donation is tax deductible and goes to a great cause!

The order deadline is September 26! March of Dimes will deliver the shirts and we will get them to you as soon as possible. This is a community service opportunity for the FBLA students. ALL funds will go directly to our local March of Dimes office. Please contact Sonia Burden or an FBLA member to place your order.

The Lawrence County Career Technical Center FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is once again partnering with our local March of Dimes office to promote “Prematurity Awareness Month” through the state “Blue Jeans for Babies” event. We are very excited about this year’s campaign! March of Dimes is offering 2 different designs and 5 color combos to choose from and all adult & youth shirts come in short sleeve and most in long sleeve! (Exceptions are the Purple Frost and Tie Dye.) The tees are $21 for short sleeves and $26 for long sleeves sizes S-XL (add $2 for 2XL and 3XL). Please look over the attached flyer for colors and designs. Remember your donation is tax deductible and goes to a great cause!

On Tuesday, November 17th (World Prematurity Day), more than 500 companies across Alabama will be participating in the March of Dimes Blue Jeans for Babies Campaign. On this day, businesses allow their employees to wear blue jeans (or khaki pants) to work if they purchase the official 2021 Blue Jeans for Babies T-Shirt.

The order deadline is September 24! March of Dimes will deliver the shirts and we will get them to you as soon as possible. This is a community service opportunity for the FBLA students. ALL funds will go directly to our local March of Dimes office. Please contact Sonia Burden or an FBLA member to place your order.

November is National Prematurity Awareness Month. Purchasing your tees is a great way to show your support of the March of Dimes mission – healthy babies and moms – and will help them in efforts to give every baby a healthy start in life. Thank you so much!!
