Nearly two dozen wrestlers from the Twin City Wrestling Club earned top-8 finishes, and the Mat Cats finished 15th out of 150 teams at the Washington State Wrestling Association Folkstyle State Tournament at the Tacoma Dome on Sunday.

As a team, Twin City scored 190.5 points, led by Julian Huang’s 21. Luke Vizgaudis added 20, and Landen Hill, Chase Phillips, Kaiden Coates, and Emberly Sharp each added 19.5.

Leon Huang followed with 19, Brock Blankenship scored 18.5, and both Cabot Cooley and Finn Ankeny scored 17.

Four Mat Cats — Landen Hill (6U - 43.2-45.2), Emberly Sharp (Girls K-2nd - 49.8-53.2), Ophileah Cortes (Girls K-2nd - 93), Layla Simonds (Girls K-2nd - 114.4) — took second in their respective brackets, while five more — Chase Phillips (8U - 62), Finn Ankeny (8U - 85), Brock Blankenship (10U - 105), Kaiden Coates (14U - 140), Zoie Cortes (14U - 240) — earned bronze medals with third-place finishes.

Seven Twin City wrestlers — Sawyer Wade (6U - 37.2-40.2), Hudson Hill (6U - 44.8-48), Luke Vizgaudis (10U - 59), Julian Huang (10U - 71), Mason McGreal (16U - 165), Isabella Nelson (Girls K-2nd - 55.8-60.2), Kalyani Brown (Girls 6th-8th - 135) — took fourth.

Four more — Leon Huang (8U - 45), Cabot Cooley (8U - 62), Kash Davis (12U - 70), Jacob Miraglia (12U - 82) — placed fifth.

Bowen Driscoll (8U - 45) and Alyxandrea Jarvis (Girls 6th-8th - 130) placed sixth, and Kylie Stafford (Girls 3rd - 5th - 108) finished in eighth in her bracket.

The Twin City Wrestling Club will be right back at it this week, as the Freestyle/Greco season gets underway. Practices will be held at the W.F. West Wrestling room on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost is $20 and a USA Wrestling Full Membership Card for new 2026 members.

The Mat Cats next tournament in on Saturday, when the WSWA Battle for the Belt will be held at Centralia High School.

The Twin City Wrestling Club won its third tournament of the year on Sunday, winning the Washington State Wrestling Association Northwest Folkstyle Challenge in Bremerton.

The Mat Cats scored 219 points, topping the Northwest Washington Wrestling club, the hosts, by seven.

Luke Vizgaudis led TCWC with 28.5 points, which was the most of any individual wrestler in the tournament.

Jayden Vizgaudis added 24, Braydon Nelson added 23, and Jacob Miraglia, Atrayewe Brown, and Emberly Sharp each added 22.

Isabelle Nelson and Bowen Driscoll both pitched in 20, Kash Davis logged 19.5, and Leon Huang finished with 18.

As a team, Twin City finished with 45 pins, the most by any team, and 57 pins and tech falls, also the most of any team at the tournament.

Nine Twin City wrestlers finished first in their brackets: Isabella Nelson (Girls K-2nd 52.6-56.6), Ophileah Cortes (Girls K-2nd 89.6-98.1), Bowen Driscoll (U8 49), Luke Vizgaudis (U10 59), Jayden Vizgaudis (U12 63-67), Kash Davis (U12 70), Brayden Nelson (U12 117), Lula-May Hilliard (Girls 6th-8th 76), Atrayewe Brown (U16 132-139.4).

Twelve more finished second: Emberly Sharp (Girls K-2nd 52.6-56.6), Eziya Gomez (Girls K-2nd 58.8-60.8), Layla Simonds (Girls K-2nd 89.6-98.1), Leon Huang (U8 45), Bryson Blume (U8 49), Emberly Sharp (U8 53), Elijah Topete (U12 78), Brayden Nelson (U12 108), Ryker Roberts (U12 117), Ezra Sudano (U14 75), Zoie Cortes (U14 225+), Parker Daniel (U16 113-118.6).

MAT CATS EARN SECOND STRAIGHT TEAM TITLE: The Twin City Wrestling Club wrestled at the Washington State Wrestling Association Beowulf Folkstyle Tournament in Port Orchard on Sunday, and the Mat Cats won their second team championship in a row.

They scored 243 points, beating second-place Northwest Washington Wrestling club by 21.5. Forks Wrestling Club finished third with 214.5 points.

Luke Vizgaudis led the way for Twin City, scoring 30 individual points, while Julian Huang added 29 and Jeffery Landon tallied 27 to round out the team’s top three.

Kash Davis (25.5), Emberly Sharp and Thorin Goebel (24), Bowen Driscoll (22), Talmai Houk (21), Isabella Nelson (20.5), Jayden Vizgaudis and Jace Dodd (20 each) all topped the 20-point mark.

Ten Twin City wrestlers won their bracket: Emberly Sharp (Girls K-2nd 49.1-52.2), Eziya Gomez Girls K-2nd 54.2-57.8), Jace Dodd (U8 43), Bowen Driscoll (U8 45), Jeffrey Landon (U8 53), Luke Vizgaudis (U10 59), Julian Huang (U10 77), Kash Davis (U12 67-70), Lula-May Hilliard (Girls 6th-8th 72.2), and Atrayewe Brown (U16 138).

TWIN CITY WRESTLING CLUB TAKES SECOND: Paced by eight champions and double digit second and third place finishers, the Twin City Wrestling Club secured a second place team finish at Sunday’s Elma Folkstyle Tournament. It’s the fourth top-three finish for TWTC this season.

The Mat Cats were led by Alyxandrea Jarvis, who tallied 24 points to win the girls sixth-through-eighth grade 130-pound weight class. Emberly Shap, Cabot Cooley and Finn Ankeny also had over 20 points.

Here are the complete results. Twin City will return to the mat in the new year at the Concede Nothing Folkstyle Challenge in Centralia on Sunday.

Champions: Sawyer Wade, Wallace Cooley, Emberly Sharp, Isabella Nelson, Leon Huang, Finn Ankeny, Christopher Kuberth, Alyxandrea Jarvis.
