It has been a busy several weeks, getting back into the swing of things. We had an awesome outreach this past Saturday with some great helpers. I am so thankful for all of the moving parts that make every outreach happen. HUGE thanks to Mrs. Alta for the red beans and rice and Victoria for the sides. I didn’t get a good head count on the number fed but honestly the number has never mattered much if we go out and only feed 1 that’s enough “Do everything in LOVE.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

🚨WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING MEAL BOXES AT THE LINK🚨

First.. THANK YOU. You have absolutely blown us away.

Because of your generosity, we’ve been able to feed our unhoused friends, help families throughout our community, and make sure food gets where it’s needed.

HOWEVER!
Please do not bring any more meal boxes right now.

We are completely out of room. Every corner, shelf, and available spot is full. If you show up with another box, I may have to start using my living room… and my husband has already voted no. 😂

We’re trying to get what we already have into people’s hands before accepting more.

Again THANK YOU!

First off, we are so incredibly thankful for all of the meal boxes that have been dropped off. I honestly can’t even count how many people we’ve been able to feed because of them.

Not only have these boxes helped our unhoused friends, but we’ve also been able to help several families in our community and surrounding areas.

I also wanted to clear something up, because I never want our heart behind this to be misunderstood.

If you would prefer your meal box go directly back to the school to help children in our area, but you can’t make it during the school’s 8am-3pm drop-off timeframe (because let’s be real… a lot of people are working during those hours), you can still drop it off at The Link. Just write “school” on the box, and I will personally make sure it gets delivered to the school for you.

It has always been our goal to feed people. Honestly, that’s a big part of how all of this started, and it will continue to be about feeding people—all people, any people.

It has never been our goal to take food from anyone, especially children.

If that has been unclear in any way, I sincerely apologize.

What is your mission?
Funny you ask. Because if I’m honest, The Mission was never supposed to be… this. I thought maybe coffee on cold nights. Maybe hand out a few blankets. Love on some people. Simple.
But God.
He changed my heart. He changed Jonas’s heart. He changed the way we see people. What used to be “that homeless guy” became names, stories, friendships… family.
Turns out this was never really about coffee. It was about people being seen, loved, and reminded they matter.

So now I’m curious…
What mission has God put on your heart?

We’re back! 🙌

Meal box donations can be dropped off again starting today.

Thank y’all for being patient while we were away. And special thanks to everyone who successfully resisted the urge to feed the raccoons this week. 🦝😂

As always, we’re incredibly grateful for every donation.

Midweek meal box check-in 👀

If you’re cleaning out your summer meal boxes and thinking, “I should drop this off at The Mission…”

WAIT. HOLD THAT BOX. 😂

We are still out of town until Friday.

Please keep all donations with you just a little longer so they don’t end up sitting outside in the heat… or becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet for raccoons, ants, and whatever else roams Hurley after dark. 🦝🐜

We’ll let y’all know the second we’re back!

Huge thank you to River Youth at Three Rivers Assembly of God for their incredible Heatwave Donation Drive for The Mission! ☀️❤️

These students showed UP.

They collected much-needed summer items to help us care for our unhoused friends during this brutal Mississippi heat things that may seem small to some people but can make a huge difference to someone living outside.

As someone who gets the privilege of helping teach these students in Sunday School every week, I can honestly say… they are a wild bunch (and by wild, I mean loud, chaotic, occasionally feral 😅), but they have some seriously big hearts and a genuine desire to love people well.

Watching the next generation choose compassion, generosity, and action gives me so much hope.

So thank you, Kara and River Youth, for serving, giving, and being the hands and feet of Jesus.

And while I’m here… shameless plug:
If you’ve got teenagers and you’re looking for a youth group, I happen to know a pretty great one at The River 😉

Y’all have blessed us again. ❤️
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated meal boxes to The Mission. We’ve already been able to get some of them distributed, and they have been such a blessing. We plan on distributing even more throughout this week and again this weekend, and we are so incredibly thankful for every donation.
Thank you for helping us keep boots on the ground and love people in tangible ways. We appreciate every donation, every share, and every prayer more than you know.

📢 SUMMER MEAL BIN UPDATE 📢

We have placed a small meal donation bin at The Link under the breezeway for anyone who would like to donate items from their summer meal boxes that they won’t be using.

Please note: it is a SMALL bin. Donations will be picked up daily around 4:00 PM so we can get items distributed quickly and avoid storage issues.

It has also come to my attention that several families in our area have not received their summer meal boxes. If that is you, please feel free to stop by and take what you need from the meal bin. That’s what it’s there for. ❤️

Another great resource is Pete’s Pantry at the old sawmill. You can see it from the road, and it is stocked with non-perishable food items available to anyone in need.

If you need food assistance and can’t make it by before 4:00 PM, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We will do our best to help connect you with resources.

As always, thank you for helping us love our community well. ❤️
