Peplin VFW Post 8280 We promote the activities & functions of Mosinee Memorial VFW Post 8280 (recently consolidated), Mosinee, WI serving veterans and their families.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8280 welcomes Deployed Veterans, young and older, women and men to join us. Our Mission: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans.

Saturday May 30, The Mosinee VFW Post 8280's Honor Guard Presented the Colors for the Opening of the Wausau Lyrics Choir "From Sea to Shining Sea".
Our Nation's Colors were presented as the 80 member Choir sang the Star Spangled Banner.
It was a very moving experience for Christy Beck (rifle), Tim Hirsch (US Flag), Ken Bangs (POW/MIA Flag), Pat Pierce (rifle) as we stood at attention in front of the Choir presenting the Colors as the Choir sang Star Spangled Banner to a standing audience at the Central Wisconsin Convention Center.
Thank You Wausau Lyrics Choir for including the Mosinee VFW Post 8280 Honor Guard in your Presentation of Songs.

This past week the Peplin Pioneers 4H Club went to work planting flowers, removing weeds, and various other tasks at the Mosinee VFW Post 8280 for their annual beautification project.

To volunteer: arrive at the Big Memorial Rock in Mosinee Cemetery at 10:00 AM Thursday May 28, 2026. With a few volunteers, this project will take only about one hour.

Great weather greeted the Memorial Day ceremonies by Post 8280 at St John the Baptist Cemetery, located next to Post Hall. Post Commander Pat Pierce led the ceremony.

A great luncheon was served after the public event.

As you drive by Cemeteries this week, you will see many US Flags marking the graves of soldiers, sailors, airmen, coast guards, and marines from a variety of wars and peace times..
These Flags are placed for reverent observance of the memories of those women and men who faithfully served our country with honorable service.
The 800 plus Flags were placed by the Mosinee VFW and others, most notably, Mosinee High School students.
Thank you for remembering and honoring our Veterans.

"Honor the Contract" is the Veterans of Foreign Wars' (VFW) rallying cry reminding lawmakers and the public that veterans' disability
compensation and benefits are a binding, sacred agreement.
It stems from the standard enlistment contract (DD Form 4), stating that in exchange for hazardous service, service members are entitled to earned pay and benefits.
The VFW launched this national campaign to push back against budget cuts, means-testing, and claims that veterans are
"exploiting" the disability system. The movement actively advocates
against reducing or altering the promised healthcare and financial security that service members earn when taking the oath.
