On August 6, Thursday, at the Mosinee Cemetery the Mosinee VFW Post 8280's Honor Guard and three United State Marine Corps' Honor Guard members gave tribute to Colton James Lewens.
The Honor Guard gave a three volley Rifle Salute, a Flag Ceremony and Taps. The Marines played Taps and then presented a folded flag to the family in Honor of Colton's Honorable and Faithful Service to the United States and the Marines.

This morning August 1, Saturday, 5 members of Mosinee VFW Post 8280 tackled the project around the Flags and Memorial Pad landscaping. Amazing 1 young veteran age 65, 2 veterans 70+ age and 2 Veterans 80 yrs of age getting it done. Got it Done...
If anyone wants to join the fun - you are invited to help.
We finished by 1:40 PM the first half of the project.
The second half will be completed in a couple of weeks.
Today's results look really good. A good improvement.

July 24, Friday, Rudolph, WI at All Souls Cemetery. Three Members of the Mosinee VFW Post 8280 attended the long-delayed funeral service for World War II prisoner of war and unaccounted-for soldier Private Elmer F. Blonien.
Private Elmer F. Blonien, age 27, who died on November 15, 1942, at the Cabanatuan POW camp in the Philippines after surviving the Bataan Death March.Funeral Mass: Held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph, preceded by a church visitation at 10:00 a.m.Burial Location: Interred with full military honors at All Souls Cemetery in Rudolph, with a firing squad officiating from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Procession: Escorted through Rudolph by the Rolling Thunder Riders from the Ritchay Funeral Home prior to the services. Rudolph's American Legion Post members preceded the casket from the Church into the Cemetery with Solemn Honors.

Monday, July 27 at St Patrick's Catholic Church and Cemetery, Halder, WI - the Mosinee VFW Post 8280's Honor Guard had the privilege of presenting a Rifle Salute and Taps for John Roger Gorman, U.S. Army. The Flag Folding and Presentation was presented by two active members of the U.S. Army.
This Ceremony is given to recognize the Honorable Military Service given by John Gorman.

July 19, Sunday at Mosinee Ice Arena......
The Mosinee VFW Post had a successful event with every ticket sold, and a nice size attendance of ticket holders enjoying a meal prepared by the Hammer Down Bar. There were twelve ticket holders' winners of the cash prizes. Plenty of refreshments for all.
The VFW Auxiliary provided a fun and successful 50/50 raffle with one lucky winner.
Thank you to all purchasers of tickets, and to all attending supporters of Veterans.

July 17, Friday at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee -
The Mosinee VFW Post 8280 Honor Guard provided Military Honors for Allen (Al) C. Stingley. Allen had honorable service in the United States Army. The Honor Guard provided a three volley Rifle Salute, Taps and Flag Presentation to the family. This Ceremony is in Recognition of Allen's honorable service in our country's Armed Forces.

JULY 15, Wednesday at Peaceful Pines Cemetery, Mosinee
The Mosinee VFW Post 8280 Honor Guard participated in a Military Funeral Honors Ceremony for Thomas J. Wolfe, SGT USAF, Vietnam.
Two members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard folded the US Flag and presented it to the family honoring Thomas Wolfe for his honorable service.
Members of the Mosinee VFW Post 8280 offering a rifle salute were: Tim Hirsch, Richard Armstrong, Jack Ganser, Dennis Pierson, David Mandli, and Bob Dietel. Pat Pierce as bugler provided Taps.

UP GRADES !
On the next visit to the Post, members will be thrilled to see the new white and lighter in weight folding ables. It already brightens up the room! The purchase of new tables were voted and approved during our early July meeting.
And improvements to the back parking area continue. New gravel awaits repairing the erosion from our early summer gully washers.
