Special Thanks to our one man Construction Company, Bob Dietel. Today Bob installed a new electrailc outlet in the Post front Hall to power our verticle signage monitor.

Bob Is the man behind so many projects. This summer he single handedly scraped the basement floor, sealed the walls, and Painted the floor..all with just a small hand held paint brush... Check out the furnace room....its so brightn now! This happened only after he replaced and sealed both basement windows from whence our flooding came from. Bob is present at just about every job requiring sweat equity, and we sincerely thank him for all the hard work he provides to the Post. Thanks Bob

Major Xiong Chao - Aug. 11, 1943-Sept 25, 2026

VFW Post 8280 has the privilege of providing Honor Guard Ceremonial duties for the funeral of Major Xiong Chao. His burial service will be On Monday Nov. 9 at the Rest Lawn Memorial Park starting at 11:00 AM.

Major Xiong was a key member of the Wisconsin Lao Veterans of America.

Post 8280 has personally been asked to provide the Honor Guard.

VFW member Tom O'Brien takes a selfie of the Saturday Highway Clean Up crew that worked highway 153. Troop 259 assisted Post members and together made short order of the biannual task. It was the perfect day to be out and about.

The drawing will be held at 12:15 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2026.
Four Winners each winning 12.5% of the Tickets Sold.
2000 Tickets to be Sold.
$10 per ticket.
If all 2000 tickets are sold, the 4 winners will each win $2500.00.

Last night, the Mosinee VFW Auxiliary 8280 met for the first time at the VFW Post 8280. The next meeting is Monday October 19 at 6:00PM.
At last night's meeting, several new members applications were submitted. Plus, a few members-at-large transferred into the Auxiliary 8280. And there were existing members for the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Marla Morgan, Department Auxiliary Chief of Staff. Visitors were Tina Flanagan, VFW District 7 Commander, Marge Southworth, VFW Auxiliary Department Senior Vice-president, Mary Lou Duerr, VFW Auxillary District 7 President, and Pat Pierce, VFW Post 8280 Commander.

On Monday, September 21, 6:00 PM at the Mosinee VFW Post 8280, 3332 East State Highway 153, there is a reorganization meeting of the Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8280.
As the Auxiliary shifts its meeting place to VFW Post 8280, we welcome any interested potential members to a “re-organizational” meeting on Monday, September 21 at 6:00 pm. You do not have to currently be a member to attend this gathering. We will discuss the programs and goals of the VFW Auxiliary and how you can become a member, along with other important information. We are starting with the current meeting schedule of the third Monday of the month, but selecting an early evening time to allow more interested members who are still working to attend. As new members join and Officers are re-organized, it will be up to the Auxiliary to select the meeting day and time that will work best for the majority. While some current members intend to continue with Auxiliary 8280, we do know that many are electing to transfer to another existing Auxiliary, or to At-Large status within the Dept. of Wisconsin. A simple transfer form is available to anyone who needs it. We thank ALL for their years of dedicated service to Mosinee, and welcome any and all eligible members to help continue the mission to serve the Veterans of the area.
Who is eligible to join the Auxiliary? The following “relatives” of VFW-Eligible Veterans: husband/wife; father/mother; brother/sister; son/daughter; grandfather/grandmother; grandson/granddaughter. Step- and adopted relatives are considered the same as biological ones. NOTE: Former members of the “Ladies” Auxiliary as well as the “Men’s” Auxiliary are also eligible; those eligible for VFW membership are NOT able to join the Auxiliary.
Exciting times are ahead! Please come to the September 21st meeting to welcome this new chapter of service and join us! If you cannot attend, but have questions, or would like a membership form, please contact me.

On Tuesday, September 15, William "Bill" Shnowski was Interred with full military burial honors at Mosinee Cemetery. The U.S. Navy and the Mosinee VFW Post 8280's Honor Guard provided the full Honors.
Bill was a Charter Member of VFW Post 8733 and a Past Commander. He was an active and dedicated VFW member to the Mosinee Community serving veterans and their families.
Note: there was no photographer available for pictures of the ceremony.

The Mosinee VFW Post 8280's Honor Guard presented the Colors for the "Blue Mass" at St Paul's Catholic Church. Sunday September 13, to honor all police, fire, EMT, and emergency services personnel.
